what value of supersampling do you have? im running 1.2 on a 1070ti OC

I use 1.5 or 1.6 with a 2070 Super. The result is very satisfying.

Are you using super sampling, I have a value of 1.2 set but still feel its little blurry here and there

In general - yes. 1.5 is a common number I've used, usually via the Oculus Tray Tool, if you've got the GPU horsepower to do it (which, with a 2080TI, I do for any sort of sane program).

In MSFS? No. I'm using the recommended/default setting in the program, which for the Rift S and Odyssey+ is the opposite of supersampling - running at 80% of the normal pixels. I've bumped this up to 100% in less-demanding use cases. I haven't considered going over 100%, as I'm already having to make a lot of other graphics sacrifices to achieve smooth flight.

Which one?

G2 has lots of fans, it's expensive and hard to find right now. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't compare.

What I've tried out in MSFS:

Odyssey+

Rift S

Quest 2.

From my non-scientific, very early testing I'd choose Odyssey+ > Rift S > Quest 2.

  • The Rift S is a consistent performer. It's the HMD I've used most for flight sim in recent years. Works fine in MSFS, colors seem a little washed out, doesn't look beautiful at night.
  • Quest 2 - I had some great PMDG flights with this on the weekend and was very impressed. I'm not impressed in MSFS. It feels stuttery. I would not recommend it.
  • Odyssey+. Small 'sweet spot', makes me use WMR which I really don't like. However, the color palette and night-time visuals are great with the HMD in MSFS. I don't like this headset in general, but it's my favorite so far for this particular sim. My guess is that MSFS is still better optimized for WMR rather than Oculus, as this was initially going to be the only platform supported on initial VR release. Odyssey+ also has OLED screens, which work very nicely with the lighting engine in this sim.

After a Rift day, I'm back to retry the Odyssey now.

I’m confused as hell with all this talk of sweets and lenses...! I’m totally new to this VR. Never tried it (currently use track IR on a 38 widescreen).

I really want to try it, but I’ve no idea what head set to buy?! This thread has confused me even more.

can I wear glasses with them?

Can I wear earphones with them?(headset for atc)

thanks!

Same here

Whichever headset you buy, just lower your "clarity" expectations somewhat before trying, a little more for some headsets than others, and then you'll be happy 🙂
