Does the Oculus Quest work with MSFS 2020?

Thanks

Bernd

Not for me so far! Some unhappy oculus users in the other thread - see if we get this sorted before purchasing specifically for msfs.

Not recommended by Tom’s Hardware. Read full review.

Strongly recommended by the Avsim Cult of the G2.

Why: it has lots of pixels.

Is this useful: no. MSFS can’t drive them right now (i’m using 80% of pixels in my odyssey+ flying a cessna right now, that’s what a 2080ti can cope with. More pixels would make no sense).

Any other issues: uses wmr. I hadnt used wmr for about a year, until forced to do so tonight. It is really awful, compared to the oculus software.

I’d wait til oculus hmds are working well, and get a rift s, ir a quest 2 (better image) if that hmd is compatible.

Actually none at this point, this is not a mature technology yet, see what is available in 18-24 months.

For a lot of users, myself included, it is in fact a mature technology.

You are missing the "because..." part of your post where you provide some arguments for your opinion.

Is HP Reverb G2 in the market yet?

Has not been released in Canada yet, but I have read some people have just recently received it in the US that they pre-ordered. Depends on where your from.

I've been using my Oculus Rift S on my laptop with MSFS and it's okay but the resolution is not really good enough for flight simming.  I just got my HP Reverb G2 for my desktop (RTX 2080SC) and yes it does have a narrow sweet spot, but once I got used to it, it is a step above the other VR headsets. The sharpness in MSFS is still not equivalent to a 4K monitor with TrackIR, but the sense of depth is worth the upgrade, if you can afford the price. One more generation of VR headsets and the manufacturers will have figured it out. I don't think I'd recommend the G2, mostly because of the price, but the Tom's Hardware review is way off base. I wouldn't base my purchase of a VR headset on that review.

Many G2's out in the wild in Australia for about 6 weeks now.

Quest 1 and link is working but with caveats. See other thread

Reverb G2 absolutely.  These reviews that talk about tracking, unless your going to be virtual sword fighting.... not an issue.  Your in a chair stationary.

The comfort, resolution, and off ear audio is awsome.  I can never fly in 2D again after tonight!  All my pattern work was so much better because of the

orientation to everything around.  I even sat the ATC window like a tablet on the passenger seat so I could glance over at it.  Absolutely fantastic and the G2 was definitely the right pick!

Bummer, looks like I won't see mine till new year. From my vendor in Aus

Good morning,

Our team collectively have spent many hours liaising with all the stakeholders (HP, distribution, shipping partners, and warehousing staff) as our main priority was to get the HP Reverb G2 to you by Christmas.

The Reverb G2 stock has arrived in Australia via sea freight, but due to the high congestion, the distribution warehouses have been unable to receive the stock in time to ship before Christmas. Read more about this here (https://www.hellenicshippingnews.com/congestion-collaboration/

After months of falling throughput volumes, a number of ports across the world are now seeing congestion. AJ Keyes asks if this is due to the rebound from COVID-19 or if other factors are in play ...

)

We are extremely frustrated with the situation at hand as we have spent a lot of time and resources securing this stock to ensure it would arrive and ship before Christmas, but what has unfolded is an unpredictable hurdle to this end goal.

Please be assured we are doing everything on our end to get your order to you as quickly as possible by upgrading you to express shipping as soon as we have stock available in our warehouses!

Over Christmas and New Year, we are only closed on public holidays so if there is anything we can help with please let our team know!

We look forward to providing better news in the near future.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays,

I've got hundreds of hours with the Rift S and the resolution - particularly with supersampling - is absolutely good enough for flight simming. In fact, I'd say it's probably the most widely-used flight sim HMD in the world right now! I would be happily using it with MSFS right now except mine doesn't work (yet), so I'm back using WMR for a bit. No disrespect to the G2, I'm trying to hunt one down myself at the moment, but the old Rift S still has some life in her yet!

DK2 was not quite mature technology.

CV1 was cumbersome but more or less mature.

Rift S was mature.

It's just got better since then.
