January 5, 20215 yr not sure whether it is one of the MSFS mysteries only but on top of disabling live ATC, live traffic and multiplayer (just leaving live weather on) I followed the advice in another thread and de-installed all visual runtimes via windows --> setup --> apps and ONLY reinstalled the latest x86 and x64 runtime libraries available at https://support.microsoft.com/de-de/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads. Did 2 flights without any CTD yesterday and just finished LOWW to LSZH (both w/ 3PD scenery from the marketplace) which was a notorius CTD reason before. No mods installed except the custom FBW mod which I used for all these flights. January 7, 20215 yr The thing that worked for me was turning on VSync under the graphics options. No crashes since then.

January 9, 20215 yr Had three CTD since my last post. All at completely random times. Last one was particularly painful... long haul from London to Chicago. Crashed as I entered USA out of Canada. Tried running with no AI aircraft now. I thinking this is happening due to the sim loading in live traffic?
January 9, 20215 yr I fly mostly 2h hops and since the beginning of time (or MSFS launch), I experienced only ONE CTD upon launching MSFS. I don't fly VR because the lack of HW but will consider it for mid 2021. My system is not OC and in the Community Folder I only have the FBW A32NX whit the liveries. January 9, 20215 yr I found some regularity: GPU memory close to full - likely CTD, GPU memory up to 75% full, no CTD. The values can be seen in the standard Windows Task manager. For my 2070s that means running the screen at 2800x1600, 30Hz, and the MSFS settings on "High end". With 4k I got crashes. And another thing: all CTD's were while FBW A32NX was flown. I've done hours and hours with the Asobo C172 and 4k and never had a CTD.
January 9, 20215 yr Author After having reversed the registry mod i did earlier the sim seems to complete a flight better The mod was to disable VirtualMultipleWindows which I re-enabled
January 9, 20215 yr All my random CTD problems have dissappeared since I turned Traffic AI Off and VSync Off. Never had any CtDs before the latest patch, but had many afterwards, sadly, no AI traffic now, but at least I can complete my flights now, hope it gets fixed soon. Iñigo Bildarratz

But most likely the crashes are due to beeing way to close to the edge of ones PC HW. January 9, 20215 yr Here my contribution to the list of CTD „correlations“: I never had any CTD until December patch seems to have infected MSFS. Since then my MSFS suffers from regular CTD (about 1 of 5 flights). i tried a lot, flew with and without mods - last CTD today - ORBX Gaya LOWW to Asobo EDDF - Boeing 747-8 with just a custom livery - no other mods - intercepted ILS 07C after a nice descent - suddenly the sound stopped - picture freezed for a second and then - MSFS farewell. I have allready disabled AI Traffic in the air and some other features. Some time I assumed it could have to do with Sofly weather presets - but obviously that was not the reason. I hope the reason will be found some day - otherwise I will stay at my old sim most of the time. January 9, 20215 yr The December patch introduced bugs in the SimConnect API which are causing CTDs. So if you are using any external software that talks to the sim to log your flight, provide navigation, remap controls - anything that uses SimConnect - LittleNavMap, FSEconomy, NeoFly, FSUIPC, AxisandOhs, SimAir, etc - you might see CTDs. Post from the author of LNM: Quote All: The CTD was introduced with the latest MSFS update and they confirmed a problem with SimConnect that affects all applications. Do not connect LNM if you want avoid crashes for now. Wait for the next MSFS update. Alex Post from MSFS official forum mods: Quote The developers are aware of simconnect issues. January 10, 20215 yr Did exactly the same flight LOWW EDDF today - without LNM and other remotely connected tools - and voilà - no CTD ! January 10, 20215 yr Here's something. I flew MSFS from EGLL - KORD. This time no AI traffic and V sync ON. Simlink ON and all my other tracking software. No CTD and even a few more FPS. After landing I droned through all kinds of weather at Chicago. No problems at all. Sim was running for over 8 hours. Could it be AI traffic?

You could try 4K with render scaling at 70% or so, whatever setting gets the game rendering at 2800 x 1600 and upscaling to 4K . In theory that should have similar demands on the GPU but will look substantially better. Edited January 10, 20215 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick
