meteoblue snow depth?

Featured Replies

Maybe you folks can help me out here.  From my research I understand that FS gets the snow depth information from meteoblue.  This depth is shown as 'accumulation' within the sim (once over a certain level).  Ok, all well and good.  However the snow depth link (snow depth) has indicated 'no data' for 11 days straight.

So, question:  How are you seeing accumulated snow in the sim with live weather?

CPU: Core i5-6600K 4 core (3.5GHz) - overclock to 4.3 | RAM: (1066 MHz) 16GB
MOBO: ASUS Z170 Pro |  GeForce GTX 1070 8GB | MONITOR: 2560 X 1440 2K

Meteoblue worked well for me, I tested Madrid LEMD, in reality the airport closed following the snowstorm (50 years it had never snowed so much). I had a snowpack with data last week during the storm.
I also had an accumulation in Norway (Tromsø) that I know well. I noticed that it depends on the forecast over a few days.
I could be wrong, I think the data would show if you have snowfall over several days. Meteoblue is not perfect yet.

So do we have an official statement from Asobo on when the snow shows in game?  In particular, I have not seen it on mountain tops in regions where you would expect snow or is showing on the map

Snow needs some serious work.  Just this afternoon, I landed at Aspen, there was snow everywhere.  Then I went to the main menu to load a different aircraft, then back to Aspen.  Same day, same time of day, etc.  It was a beautiful clear day with no snow at all.

Yes, live weather doesn't work on the second flight. You have to restart the sim completely between flights.  Some times i get live weather to work without backing out, but most of the time it will be clear skies.  You will know if its working or not by the wind data on the world map.  If you see (--/--) for the wind, its not working.  We thought they were going to fix this long ago, but they only fixed the 225/3 bug at this time.

I had snow in Madrid the other day (albeit patchy), today it's gone, no snow whatsoever. Checked webcams and sure enough it's still there in real life but in Sim with Live Weather it's a nice sunny day with zero snow on the ground.

It's nice they release new Features, I just wish they worked correctly.

As per my post above, this real picture depicts the snow fall, i see none of this in Sim:

I see currently for Madrid and surroundings just 15 to 20cm snow.

I think, the trigger to show snow in the sim is too high as you can see in other reagions also, that with just 20cm no snow is triggered.

This reminds about an other observation I made, as I think, we have the same issue with rain. made a post about it in the official forum. Here, it is the same: if rain radar shows just light rain, there's no one triggered in the sim. If you fly through small, but heavier rain "fields", it is really accurate.

EDIT:

maybe in this special case there is more trouble: sat at LEMD for some minutes as soon the pressure changed from 1004 to 1028. Maybe they have issues with weather servers there

Snow is just not presenting itself properly in the game...period.

If there is snow or rain on the ground or in the air IRL, it should be there.  The feature is called "Live Weather" not sometimes live weather.

Usually that's what I call it. Sometimes live weather. Occasionally I just use profanity.
