January 13, 20215 yr and it's even starting to ice up inside... Please @Asobo- understand that in an aerodynamically accurate simulation, it's ALL about nuance. The many grossly overdone effects are exemplified by the current icing model. We appreciate all the additions to the Sim, but a thoughtfully measured application is what is needed. Ice accumulation is but one of the MANY effects that are enormously exaggerated in the sim. Please read the feedback you are being provided from experienced modelers, who are frustrated with the current tool set. As you develop further, please remind the team that more is sometimes just more. Keep on keeping on! Ta- C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
January 13, 20215 yr I agree. What I don't understand though is they said on a twitch feed that they knew the icing was 'overdone' and they are looking at it. They said one of the formulas used in calculation was wrong and they will adjust it. This was from the Twitch about seven weeks ago I believe (the one before the last one). For me, it is not that they get things wrong (who doesn't?), it is just that they are so slow to respond. Was I stupid to expect a fix to the terrain spikes last night? I think maybe I was. This time last week they said they will have a fix 'in the next few days' - good luck with that. The community fixed it in a couple of days (using Asobo's old files themselves as a basis), so I think criticism of Asobo for their slowness is justified. I am getting seriously concerned about them now. I am wondering if they have lost some key staff. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). January 14, 20215 yr Author Bob- I'd agree, I'd very much like @Asobo to focus on fixing ALL current issues before adding new ones. In good faith, however, I must also stipulate that I'm unfettered by the peccadillos of turning a profit. Que Sara, Sara... C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

This also happened with the Update #6 CPU optimisations that came one major update later, and on the latest Q&A it was said that contrails would be added "very soon", but still nothing nearly two months later. In the end they do deliver, but not within their claimed time frames. I hope they will fix these communication errors in the future.
January 14, 20215 yr Author Their FIRST AND BIGGEST issue is that of Intellectual Property Protection outside MSFSMP. At the moment it's not possible... and the primary stumbling block for every professional developer. If they fixed that, it would allow the industry leaders to begin full fledged development... surely that should get some priority? Until that happens, we will not see any complex airliner simulations from anyone interested in making money at the task. Thank God for altruism, meanwhile... C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper

C You have to balance this with user security. When you have a platform with 2 million users in the modern security age, it can't just be running random .dlls on the users PC. I'm not sure Microsoft owes anyone who chooses to operate outside of their Marketplace anything to be honest. If a developer wants to interface encrypted assets in an encrypted fsarchive file with the simulator, then they get their addon approved through the Marketplace which means users can be assured it is free of any kind of malware or PC-breaking DRM schemes. Then they get access to the 2 million+ potential customers, and their IP is protected. If they don't want to participate in the Marketplace, they can either (a) not offer products for the 2 million+ customers, or (b) offer them within the limitations of what is available outside the Marketplace. I am 100% not in favor of allowing non-vetted, encrypted code to be added to the simulator. It's a huge security risk. Unfortunately developers cannot be trusted with free reign on protecting their IP *cough* FS Labs *cough* Also you've got the likes of PMDG and Aerosoft already developing airliners for MFS, so it doesn't appear to be the stumbling block you think. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
January 15, 20215 yr Author @ckyliu - in that case we must agree to disagree. I believe it is a primary hurdle that a lot of developers (including the ones you mention) are currently wrestling with. The only current option is MSFSMP which remains a Waterloo, and obviously effects the bottom line. As @marsman2020 stated, the current situation is complex. C Best- Carl Avari-Cooper
