Well, a freeware glider, the DG Flugzeugbau DG-808S, is now available for MSFS and it supposedly has fully working gauges: 

I haven't tried it yet.  But it has garnered a lot of interest in the Reddit MSFS forum already.

And you'll need kinetic also for thermals, launch winch, and Tow which all work, Your buddy can fly the tow aircraft in MP or use AI.

I like the look of that and I'm looking forward to downloading later.  then I can turn the wind up up.and do a bit of ridgr flying.

Ah, nice! Works fine. The kinetic addon is not needed because the plane has a secret engine with a bit of fuel. You can start with it and climb for a few minutes. 🙂

It was climbing like a crazy horse, finally I found the solution to the problem, thank you. The glider is flying good now, but the instruments need to be revised because the variometer is crashing.

I'm still getting the long file names warning when trying to install even though I have enable long file names set to 1 in the registry.

The MSFS 2020 weather will interfere with kinetic thermals( it did for me), I create bigger thermals, 4.nm is enough with a lift strength of 0.6 - 0.8 in kinetic, plan your flight in littlenav paying attention to the terrain height and spot your thermals along the route then export to kinetic. If you prefer not to use kinetic then a 20 knt wind is enough.

Yeah Ctl+Sft+E when you start the flight, Then Kinetic will work more smoothly.

Great, I have to check it out for myself. I tried to import it myself with the tool, but I just got CTD.

This thing works great, I can't believe how well all the gauges work. I hope they can bring more FSX aircraft to FS2020.

That is huge problem and has no solution, we can't avoid Windows path length limit, even after file names was shortened to decrease amount of people that will see such error. I can only recommend to move Community folder outside of Users directory, then install this mod. You can find instructions about moving MSFS Community folder really quickly.

Most of the involved people (that have made this conversion or just helped) working on native gliders/aircraft development now. I think it's good as we are moving forward even before ASOBO allow us to do that. Long path to the "acceptable" level of soaring in MSFS, but we are in the middle already.
DG808 updates still will be released, we can't break existing legacy limitations but some room for improvements exists.
