I can bet it will be 787.

They (the ones on the left) are static aircraft in DRZEWIECKI DESIGN's KBFI I believe. Unless they are teasing us with a Dreamliner and on purposely shot the screenshot there for that reason.

Yes.

In this order they stand on that picture and hopefully will be released too 😉

1) 737

2) 777 200er

3) ......787

A 787 would be logical (i guess) for PMDG if P3D were the only sim on market. However, I just don't see it in the near future. With the market slowly (but surely) moving towards MSFS, I think they are focused on getting their 3 main product lines to MSFS. And I say this as someone who is 95% on P3D at the moment. The remaining 5% just for fun VFR flights in MSFS.

My guess on their development timeline is something like this:

- 777 update and 200ER expansion for P3D.

- NGXU for MSFS.

- 747 for MSFS.

- 777v2 for MSFS (update of the models, logic, etc so a significant amount of work involved, almost like a new product).

I just don't see how a completely new model (787, 727) fits in to all this. Especially for P3D.

As said above, those are static models.

This reminds me of when GTA V was being previewed and people were trying to find clues to the release date in the trailer.

What about the tail on the far, far left of the picture?  The tail with the "9" on it?

PMDG has previously been very careful not to include anything in their publicity images that doesn't relate to showcasing their own W.I.P. / product lines.

Based on 26/09/2020 forum post, Robert Randazzo said the following (my emphasis in bold):

Quote

Since we had planned to be very deep into 737, 747, 777, J-41 and DC-6 conversion to MSFS by now- but it is clear that we won’t need to dedicate those resources to MSFS for a while longer, we have torn open the agenda and begun to look at “what happens next?”

Our un-used development assets are focused strongly on our P3D product lines and we are hard at work getting our new LNAV/Navdata handling models into testing on the 747 (October… after two years of work…) and we are looking at how to get an EFB into the 777. We have a product coming for our P3D product line that you haven’t seen yet that is nearing testing and we have also begun work on a new airplane type… the <manufacturer deleted> <model number deleted> that you have always asked us to create…

The BBJ expansion was already given its own segment of the above post.
Yes, the 777-200ER was not officially announced at the time, however, that still leaves one product as 'defined' in the second paragraph that, as yet, remains unannounced.

I'm sure there are plenty of flight simmers who would love to see a PMDG 787 in MSFS, so why not start the necessary work in P3D and 'port' it over at a later date? The MSFS 787 is far from being a worthy aircraft for the type of simmers who buy PMDG. With the MSFS 787's files being encrypted, no-one is going to be able to pull a Working Title or FlyByWire community mod any time soon.

Of course, I could be entirely wrong...

If you have a top notch 777 simulation then you’re at least 60% of the way to a top notch 787 simulation.

If you have a Top notch 787 and a top notch 777 simulation then you’re at least 90% of the way to a top notch 777X simulation !

That would be a logical progression for the PMDG 777 product line in my mind.

The QW 787 is good but it lacks what PMDG are really good at and that’s comprehensive systems failure modelling and by the book performance and handling.

I really hope they do a 787, Ive just done a type rating and can tell you it’s a gorgeous aircraft to fly, I love it.
