Asobo announce MSFS.  MSFS community: "RIP X-Plane".  "Finally a sim that doesn't need add ons because it looks so great!!"

MSFS releases.  MSFS community: "There are a lot of bugs, but give it a year."  "Just wait until PMDG releases their first payware aircraft.  Then X-Plane will die."

It's beyond laughable.

My very first add on, a Beech C23, had most systems modelled, could complete IFR flights with radio navigation and do ILS landings if I added the instrumentation for it.  It was still a word not allowed add on, which is why it was selling for under $10.

Sure X-Plane doesn't have good lighting.  But it can be fixed.  So can the weather.  So can Vulkan/Metal.  ANYTHING can be fixed.  What matters is what is being offered for sale AT THE TIME.

I wouldn't say it's worthless.  I would pay $1 for it, just to get rid of my spare change.  But what I said about it is nothing compared to your constant criticisms of X-Plane, and even your comments on my progress on the TBM update.  Without knowing the update process, I would say that's pretty poor form on your part.  At least I have a background of 12 years as a dev, so I have the qualifications on critiquing another add on.  Especially if it's as bad as that 737.

And I think, Jan, you are once again just looking at things from your perspective without regard for the broad user base that MS2020 has attracted. It may well be that this toy plane will sell in numbers IXEG could never dream of in their wildest dreams. Who's laughing then?

But is he wrong?  Do people in the MSFS community dare criticize an MSFS airliner?  Something they've been waiting for since MSFS released?

Not really. It's just one of those things. It's OK as an AI plane if nothing else! 😀 And If I did there would be many more on the list above it such as the extortionate SkyMaxPro and the weather connector thingy which I can't use unless I am prepare to tolerate 3fps and a tiny puddle of cloud.😂

So let me get this straight.  You're happy with a 20 pound "sort of" 737, which is about as lite as they come, and, I assume, is more suitable as an AI plane, but Skymaxx Pro is unacceptable, even though it looks 10x better than the previous version, draw distance goes to the horizon with no fps hit, and I'm getting up to 60fps with vsync on, in OpenGL on my Mac, running the TBM?

I'm so glad I didn't move to MSFS to make add ons.  I would get so lazy if I did.

Then again, I'm hoping you're kidding with the 3fps and a puddle of cloud.  Because, barring any conflicting plugins, I'll just come out and straight call you a liar for that.

With volumetric clouds? Seriously? You must have the worlds most powerful pc. I kid you not, SMP + connector thing + Active Sky with settings anywhere far form minimum drags my FPS down below the useable. I bought it but went back to Vivid Sky which is free and doesn't look any different.

I'm going to pull a PMDG on you now.  "MSFS doesn't have what we need to make aircraft to the level of realism we're aiming for."

My goal was never monetary in nature.  I just want to make aircraft for a platform that is run by a stable company.  Any money that comes along with it is a bonus.  I got to watch my daughter grow up while working from home.  That's enough for me.

There's your problem.  Why do you have SMP, RWC and AS??  You're running 2 separate weather plugins.  Get rid of Activesky and watch your performance come back.

That's exactly what they said about developing for X-Plane.  It's not realistic enough for them and doesn't have what they need.

BREDOK3D 737 Max will definitely outsell IXEG and TBM. They have the number one most wanted aircraft in a sim that has sold millions. The sales numbers will quickly skip by those aircraft and keep climbing. This is the real reason for their insecurities.
