I struggle greatly with the air-to-air refuelling. Nice pics 👍

I do too...what’s interesting though, is I have made contact with the basket and the refueling probe goes right through it....right in the middle. Lol oh man, this thread is littered with ammo for jokes and innuendos haha

FAA: ATP-ME, 737 CA, enough time in the 757/767 to be dangerous 🤠

OK, I have some great tips and I think/hope I can get you both AAR really good.

I will do an AAR tomorrow and post pictures and the tip that should make all the difference. I will add them in this topic for you both.

I hope this will help, if you want the AAR I just did to help you guys PM me your email and I will send you the recording.

Use this for training. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3305843/

OK lets get going.

The first thing is to point your F-18C just in front of the tanker.

1.png

The Tanker says he is doing 270kts so lets set speed to around 330-335Kts and but ATC (Auto throttle) ON

2.png

Now this is the sim changer and the key to the hole thing.

Turn AP ON and ATTH.

From now on you make small changers, no sudden changers and ATTH will now stay ON still your totaly done.

3.png

As the tanker gets closer Turn ATC OFF, reduce speed to 5kts more than the tanker ( he is doing 264 not 270)  then Turn ATC ON again so your sliding up to him.

4.png

Here is my sight picture to keep flight path marker on the refueling probe.

As you get closer you will find you start trimming down. The key thing now is to use trim only, no pitch changers with your stick.

5.png

At this point ATC comes OFF and stays OFF as you call Pre-contact.

NOTE: Now keep the Basket running down the line I have drawn and again you will be trimming down, keep it just above your 0 pitch bar.

6.png

Here you can see I have kept the middle of the basket level with my 0 pitch line. As we get to connect.

Your goal here is to walk your probe into the basket.

7.png

Here is my sight picture and like I have said, keep using trim down to keep your hight it seems always to be that way. Focus now on the probe and keeping it were you see below.

I use the tail wing as my speed indicator, if this is moving forward you need to add speed, if it comes back at you, you need to reduce speed,

NOTE: I dont look at this tail wing at all, its just in the corner of my sight, dont look at it.

8.png

Thats it. I hope that helps?

Appreciate the tips, brother.  But I find the ATC unreliable at holding a given airspeed.

You dont use the ATC from the point I say, read above when you turn it OFF.

Awesome.  If DCS can do Cirrus clouds I'm not sure why Asobo can't.
