February 10, 20215 yr Hi all. Now fs2020 has been about for roughly 6 months I was wondering if any regular pilots of this plane in the sim rate it. Are any bugs getting sorted In updates? Was just considering my first long haul flight in it.
February 10, 20215 yr Last time i tried it it was behaving worse than a default aircraft in FSX. Decided to stop following the route, incredibly bad VNAV, doesn't care at all about any restriction, so, basically useless. It manages to be worse than the A320 which is already pretty bad. February 10, 20215 yr Author That was my worry. Getting so far in flight then problems. Thanks for reply.
February 10, 20215 yr I have honestly never flown it. Not even once. Probably all because of Chock's picture above here - that sums it up. 🙂 Inverted decent at -43485 ft/minute and 457 kts. Pretty accurate then. In fact I don't think I have flown about 50% of the aircraft in the sim (yet). Had it since launch day but only focusing on the ones that are good (with mods) - A320, CJ4, C172, C152, B36, Savage cub. My two sons fly the B787 on their PC's and when they do, all I hear is whinging about it not wanting to turn on the taxiway. 🙂 Nuff said. With the Fly By Wire Mod, the A320 (A32NX) is far and away one of the best aircraft in the sim, standing tall alongside the Working Title modded CJ4. A pleasure to fly and approaching study level complexity. Beats anything ever released in default P3D, let alone FSX. Some of the aircraft in this sim are just plain bad but with simple to install and FREE mods, we also have the best "default" aircraft we have ever had in a simulator. 787 obviously excluded due to its encrypted files. February 10, 20215 yr Main problems with the 787, in no particular order: Performance is terrible, even with refresh rate for gauges set to low. Altitude/speed restrictions are ignored or observed inconsistently at best. Turning radius while taxiing is so wide it's nearly impossible to get to the runway. Landing is a real challenge because you basically have to push the thing onto the runway to overcome its desire to stay in the air, even at very low speed. Without disabling autothrottle I literally don't think it's possible to land it, except maybe by using autoland. For all these reasons I just don't find it fun to fly right now. I use the (lightly improved) Salty Mod for the 747 for my long-haul flying. It has a lot of the same problem with altitude restrictions, but at least it performs well! James
February 10, 20215 yr Anytime I've tried landing it, the approach speed wants to be at something like 97kts! And even then it acts like it's too fast and floats half way down the runway and then nose wheel touches first. Yes, latest version so that i keep on top on how this game might turn into a simulator someday. It looks stunning, but it has nothing to fly it with (well, nothing credible YET). The A320 looks better but still flies like a rock as expected, this is a default aircraft after all. Yes it beats anything default but that's not saying much, is it? Please don't use that "study level" term here, it's just so out of place when we have gems like the FSL Airbus series, it's actually an insult to them. I know people are eager to fly proper jets in MSFS, so i understand the enthusiasm but it's going to take a (natually) long time before that happens. Just because it's not FSLabs doesn't mean it's rubbish! I've had no real problems with it. It's a bit tricky to land as it like to float quite a bit but I haven't found anything in it that can't be worked around fairly realistically. I'm sure even a real Airbus has odd quirks in the systems from time to time. February 10, 20215 yr Cpt Canada uses it a lot. Please explain.... or rather don't. I don't want to hear your interpretation of how a rock flies! I'm not an A320 pilot but do yourself a favour and go watch A320 Sim Pilot's videos - he is an A320 pilot and he is a lot more complimentary about it than you. I'm guessing your RW A320 flight time is zero? As for the term "study level", that is the general term everyone uses around here to describe an above average level of aircraft systems modeling is it not? And to suggest that my complimenting the FBW A32NX project is an insult to FSL is even more absurd. Each to their own but heck, you need to chill. Back on topic, this thread is about the half baked B787....
