Featured Replies

Two days no electricity (spotty) and no Internet... And now when I start MFS its asking me to insert MSFS Disk.

In min ago I was in MSFS and it still showmen me I was in 1.12.13.0?

I exited and restarted and it says It needs a disk.

I am logged into MSStore. I am also loggedinto my XBOx account. Recently I had changed the xbox id and I also changed my Win 10 boot pwd.

Had same issue. Need to log out and reboot. login and start from scratch. Had to open MS store and leave it open while installing.

Hope the electricity doesn't shut off while I am doing this

.Its now 1.13.16

Saw this screen thought everything was good.

After the download its still asking me to insert disk.

I restarted MSFS once again.

And then I got this

Capture.jpg

But I had my store open.

I clicked ok.. it looks like its continuing and its now updating something when I hit update.

the 2nd Update step:

2nd-update.png

I doubt if I am going to finish this update without the rolling black out striking me any time now. Energy Rich Texas gets 30% power from Wind turbines where 50% of the Turbines froze in this deep freeze. Minnesota firm who installed these turbines said, we did not pay for the "winter option". Like the 737 Max and Boeing who would not include the TCAS display Option?  HA HA.  "HOW DARE YOU". 25 people dead already and counting...  Sheesh! People...I've lived in Texas 25 years, never had electricity failure... ever... Ok this one time, when I woke up I realized ny coffee maker broke and the same time, Microwave broke too.. So I thought I'll boil water for tea and noted my stove broke as well.. WTH.. and then realized I had no power. Yeah that one time I had no power for 30 minutes. But I suffered cognitive dissonance.. the thought I would have no electricity did not strike me.. that was  the only exception in the last 25 years of my existence in Dallas.. until this green stuff came in quietly without us knowing. For the first time yesterday I learned about 30% power came from Wind Turbine..in Texas.. WTH Man! LOL 🙂

I am posting this experience with screenshot for others and for myself next time I have to update 4. LOL ... in case.

My 28GB update took about 2 hrs.

The DL speed varied from a low of 1.9Mb/s to 90Mb/s.

This was in NH. My regular connection is usually about 120Mb/s but FS usually loads at 50-80Mb/s, so there were problems yesterday, but everything was fine in the end.

Don't forget to download (Purchase for 0) the GB/Ireland update in the market place if you want that installed. It is a separate 4.3GB I seem to remember. That went very fast for me, just a few minutes.

Best of luck and enjoy the snow. We love snow up here, so send the next batch right up to us.

I too love looking at full fluffy snow outside while sitting inside with the hot cocoa. But its not like that here.. sleet ice covered with snow (2 inches) just enough to fool us to drive at 100 miles hour and have a 100 car pile up like it did in Ft. Worth last week. 🙂

I have been in Dallas in a snow storm about 14 years ago I think.

I remember sitting in the hotel looking out the window at how terrible drivers were at handling the snow. I guess the theory is if you are not moving step harder on the throttle.

Were were there to shoot a promo video for a golf course. We had to stay a few extra days to find locations that were more green than white...

Sleet and ice is bad, we don't like it here either.

On Tuesday in Texas 16 gigawatts of renewable energy generation, mostly wind generation, were offline and 30 gigawatts of thermal sources, including gas, coal and nuclear energy, were offline. Apparently their non-renewable energy power plants are just as incapable of operating in cold temperatures as wind turbines. You guys are going to end up having to buy snow plows like the rest of us 🙂.

The whole Xbox-Microsoft account system is a nightmare. When MSFS was released I couldn't install it because my Microsoft account said that I didn't have a registered device that it could be installed on and it took forever to get that straightened out.

MSFS has become a monster. I got the power back and I started MSFS  and it asks me to put a Disk. Sheesh! Yet Again, Do I now have to live with this poltergeist from now on for ever?

It looks like the only way for to start MSFS is from the MS Store hiting the "Play" button from the store. Not the Win 10 App/Icon.

any idea how to get around this miserable experience?

The install is not continuing from where it left off, it looks like it restarted. Sigh!

I feel like throwing my new PC into my fireplace and burning it.

Started Download 3 from the Market place. 4GB the final install.

Good luck Manny, snow is one thing but sheets of ice and sleet/freezing rain are another, it wreaks havoc on electrical systems.  Living where I do (temperature often hovers around the freezing mark when winter storms hit us) we get our fair share of liquid ice falling from the sky.  I’ll take pure snow anyway!

To all my fellow Texans: Don't let these folks get off without answering to a whole lot of discontinuities in their 'explanations'.  Such as: how to large cities like mine have plenty of natural gas being pumped from the Permean Basin for our houses and businesses but yet we are told frozen NG wells and pumps are causing ng fueled generation facilities to be offline in some parts of the state?  Or why city water systems aren't 'critical infrastructure' but Walmart and Target parking lots are?

Anyway finally got this update installed in a brief window of power...maybe one day if I don't freeze I'll get to see it.  Hope you do as well Manny, take care.

OK. I did a DuckDuckgo search and found this link

https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015760660-Download-Installation-issues-Windows-Store-troubleshooting

RESET THE MICROSOFT STORE CACHE

  • On your keyboard, press the “Win Logo” + “R” keys
  • Type: WSReset.exe and press “Enter”

WSReset.png

  • A black window will pop up
  • Wait until the pop up disappears and the Store comes up
  • Reboot your computer

Until the Black window went away,.It takes a while ....be patient.

Did that and restarted the PC. and it looks like I can restart the MSFS from the win 10 without going to the MS Store and hit play. Pjhew!

All updates completed. Oh Well! 🙂
