using your EC version for Linux , don't see any clouds   , the compile ran fine , so no clouds to be seen and a lot of artifacts.  Does it not work with the Oibaf drivers ?

erm, they are vulkan only iirc, they need HDR on, and there is a 5 minute transition from one weather to the next, configurable changing the number of seconds in

It's on Vulkan  and with HDR ON.

it does not display any clouds , it's always CAVOK.

Yep everything is there , there was an error earlier for python2,7 in the log file, installed it but still no clouds,

In the logs it shows as EC plugin is loading , maybe it's not working with Oibaf drivers ?

Let's see will try with the proprietory ones

dump the console to a text file

./X-Plane-x86_64 >> weather.txt

sometimes there is more detail in there (like failing to compile the shaders)

but yeah, I've reached the conclusion that I dont think we'll ever see decent open source GPU drivers, Nouveau has worse support than the AMD drivers, NVIDIA offer first class linux support, so its only the "it has to be GPL" crowd that care, AMD is a mess everywhere except the games consoles, but still gets promoted as a viable option for desktop, and at the end of the day, graphics drivers are complex time consuming beasts to develop with low perceived value and demand. The only reason most people install a GPU on a dedicated linux box is for CUDA/openCL support, and NV own that market by a mile.

probably drivers, @Bjoern has them running on his 6900 I think, can probably point you in the best direction, but he still has other issues.

anyway to install the nvidia drivers

as superuser

telinit 3

as superuser

cd /home
chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-460.56.run
./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-460.56.run

you are now at the

2.8.3 NVIDIA Installer Register the Kernel Source Modules with DKMS

of

https://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2015/fedora-nvidia-guide/

_____

you dont have to type all of NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-460.56.run, you can just write the first few characters (NVI) then press the tab key to fill in the rest

Got chmod: Cannot access NVIDIA etc. No such file or directory...

PS There's no internet connection now on the desktop before I did telinit 3 but the drives are downloaded. Where Firefox put them I have no idea.

It should be in .cache/mozilla somewhere , that is your home folder hidden directory , same what even windows usually does when the download location has not been set.
