It's best that he makes a script for you that automates the installation.

Let's hope he kindly will. There are too many choices for me to understand in the instructions he has provided. Yup, in Ubuntu it was straightforward to install the drivers.

(He's trying to explain each step. But it just makes it confusing for me. You can't teach a donkey to sing.😀)

two steps to get the drivers installed, not sure if you missed

but the first step is to get the graphics drivers that come with the iso uninstalled (because the freeware nvidia drivers aren't performant at all, only slightly more advanced than the drivers you get in windows when you boot into safe mode)

most of that unistall is just commands typed into konsole, except for the system file you have to edit. (the kwrite line I posted).

there is also a video in the guide I posted.

can you tell me if

sudo dnf update

works, or if you need to "su -" first

getting system permissions depends on if you set a root password and the username you used when you installed.

Thanks. I appreciate your patience. But I'm lost. There's so many instructions. Could you please post a repeat of the process from uninstalling the existing drivers to installing the new ones with each command in order? If would be very helpful if you could just post each command in order with no explanatory text in between and no options? I have updated Fedora and downloaded the latest Nvidia divers. I've done nothing else.

No commentary. Just the code. 1, 2, 3.

update (by installed, I assume you mean installed to the disk)

clicking the popup should give you the option to install updates.

restart

Cut and paste is the way forward, all this trying to describe icons that change from version to version is a support nightmare.

Download the nvidia drivers

https://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/170134/en-us

ihttps://www.nvidia.com/Download/driverResults.aspx/170804/en-us

nstalling them for the first time is the hardest bit, because you can't just copy and paste (because you need to go into the Linux equivelent of safe mode to install them)

There is a guide here

https://www.if-not-true-then-false.com/2015/fedora-nvidia-guide/

After you click update above you are starting from 2.5 Install needed dependencies, there is also a video in that guide, anything you are not sure on just ask.

______

RTX2070 yes? once you've got the nvidia drivers installed, little optional side mission

install steam

start>discover->search for steam->install it

from steam install CSGO and Quake 2 RTX.

CSGO so you have quick access to stress relief if you ever get angry with the computer, Quake 2 RTX so you can see what RTX means.

The KDE equivalent of windows explorer is called Dolphin, if you let me know the username you used to install I can do the copy & paste exactly as you need it

For pasting in commands use Konsole

_____

download the XP11 installer, save it to /home/username/Downloads/ where username is the username you created

This is the only bit that is this much of a pain in the ____

The moral of the story, never use Linux for XP. It's a bad idea from the get go. Uninstall that sucker and stick with Windows. As I said from the beginning it's only for tech geeks, developers and sys admin's.  Stay away!

If following complex instructions, checklists and using advanced nix based computers like the Garmin G1000

are things that you dont think are for you

Might I suggest,

My recommendation for people poking at Linux would be the opposite monsieur mSparks, go for Ubuntu.

Because it comes with most stuff ready out of the box, proper Nvidia drivers included.

Fedora is probably better if you already know what you are doing. But that is why we have choices, right Greaser 😉 ?

I used Mint Linux and Ubuntu on a mid spec laptop. It has come a long way. Quick and easy install. The free software such as chromium browser and Libre Office is excellent. If I created a startup it would be Linux no doubt.

120 FPS VS loss of some of my addons isnt worth it. I do better than 30FPS up to 70 even im content, and who knows what may happen when Laminar get some multi core going properly.

And unless you list the commands to uninstall the old driver and install a new one we won't.  Where am I lost? Are you kidding? Have you seen the NVidia removal instructions? They make not one jot of sense to me and read like a multiple choice exam. I'm nearly done with this fiasco.
