Orbx landmark brisbane

Featured Replies

Just brought this and not usable on my system constant stutters every 3 seconds, was using 6.5 GB on my 1080ti and once I installed this it basically now uses the full amount of video ram, time to upgrade to a 3090 lol

Jetman 67,

This is very interesting because I am contemplating the purchase.  I too have a GTX1080ti which is handling MSFS very well at the moment.

What perturbs me most is the fact that YBBN has ALWAYS been a frame rate hog, and your comment leads me to believe that this may be an unreleased "port over" from P3D.  I do STRESS that this is an unsupported statement and is my reasoning only.

Could you please post your computer specs if possible.

Regards

Tony

sounds like bad optimising by orbx.

Hi Tony my system is running msfs2020 really well until I installed orbx brisbane landmarks and it wiped out my video ram, fps still around ,30 but nasty stutters due to lack of graphics memory,I had a few brisbane landmarks installed prior to that so I removed orbx and reverted back, it's just not playable with orbx until I get a 3090 at some point. There are a ton of textures in the new orbx brisbane landmarks I imagine or it's just poorly optimised, mind you I'm running ultra 4k but it made little difference when I tried dropping settings and resolutions, graphics memory was still very high

Do you have the freeware YBBN Domestic and International terminals installed as well? They hammer your frame rate all by themselves.

Yes pretty sure they are installed but orbx brisbane landmarks is just a killer on my system

Might be a conflict between the two mods.  I know one of the issues with the terminals is they use generic filenames for textures and things that double up. . See what happens if you temporarily uninstall the YBBN freeware and just run the Orbx by itself.  The two might be incompatible.

Jetman,

I am now inclined to agree with the YBBN freeware and ORBX.  My computer specs are roughly equivalent to yours so I can confirm that specs are most probably not your problem.

Please let us all know how you get on after disabling the freeware. It may well stop a lot of anti ORBX YBBN conversations if indeed this proves to be the case.

Removed bne freeware and this freed up about 1 GB video ram but still stuttering around brisbane city, removed everything from community folder as a test but still some stuttering and very high video ram usage which is not acceptable considering how smoothly it was running before the install,I have removed for now for what it offers not worth the stuttering which I really hate, I would hope a 3090 would resolve this but I wouldn't bet on it

I will download this tonight and report back. I fly on ultra everywhere and so far its always been smooth. I doubt this will be any different. The 3090 is too expensive but works wonders for the sim. (Correction... WAY TO EXPENSIVE)

Thanks for your advise guys and your mileage may vary, brisbane landmarks looks great and you may be happy with light stuttering if you do indeed get them which ill be interested to know but I'm happy with the smoothness I had before I installed it,will be interested to see if there is the same issue with a 3090

No worries I thought this would be smooth like everywhere else,I suppose it could be my system but it's definently using a ton of video memory which is pushing the 1080 ti too far, I'd love a 3090 but I'm not paying that kind of money, I'll just go hire a Cessna 172 and see brisbane for real lol

Are those landmark product really worth 15 bucks or whatever? I mean, there are a lot of cities in the world...

Probably depends on how familiar you are with the city, how low you fly, how often you fly there and also whether the default city has photogammetry.

Default Sydney does not look like Sydney, the Orbx Sydney definitely does:
