February 26, 20215 yr Hello, A jump to Win 10 and FSX SE has been really a purgatory. Last two days I have been fighting to get GNS 530/430 and GTN 750/650 functional. The latter I purchased a year ago and the version 2 530/430 just a month ago. The legacy 530 worked fine in my previous FSX Acceleration installation from 2014. The 750/650 I have managed to get to limited functionality without 3d knobs, but the v2 530/430 fights back. Not even 2d functionality. Now, should I or must I know are these F1 or Reality XP products? Is that the secret why the tricks don´t work? (I went through this a year ago with success with 750/650). Should I change something in the configs we see here on this forum? Edited February 26, 20215 yr by RXP
February 26, 20215 yr Nurmblitz, In a single word, the difference is "SUPPORT" as a minimum. RXP ... Jean-Luc is very knowledgeable, helpful, and incredibly quick to respond to these forums, I have both Fl1 GTN and RXP GTN and in all honesty both products are roughly similar but the difference is in support. RXP = Highly recommended and I think you will find a lot of people will back me up on this one.Regards Tony Edited February 26, 20215 yr by RXP Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. February 26, 20215 yr Bert Peike is also a RXP Guru and very glad to answer any troubles with GTN or GNS. Also, Himmel Horse, you didn't specify which publisher you are having trouble with. RXP or F1. Beware, a new Windows AV update quarenteens the RXP32.dll. There is a fix now though. Edited February 26, 20215 yr by RXP

February 26, 20215 yr Author My question is on a very general level. As I said I had functioning legacy 530 and GTN750/650 before. This was just the point, I think I bought the both packets from RXP but in the end F1 seemed to take the money and everything seems to happen via their user interface. But are the end products named the same way? If I say, add a line to panel.cfg - is it F1GNS or RXPGNS... I have to mention the freeware Cessna Soloy again, so smooth installation...although I think I had working 3D knobs earlier. I got A2A 172 working with 3D knobs and all by selecting another vendor model in configurator as it stated in instructions, that was only so much against common sense that I assumed it to be spelling mistake. February 26, 20215 yr If you go to RXPs website and buy you download in F1 Ecomerce program. But it's still RXP. Do this. Download F1 Purchase Agent, log in, and go to your library page. It will tell you right there which publishers GNS/GTN software you have. Also, in preformatted panel configs F1 and RXP components are more or less interchangeable. The difference is that the F1 panel bezel bitmap are slightly larger. At least for GTN they are. The trick is to run the F1 exe in the aircraft's folder and then start FS, select aircraft, and then use the panel Assistant and check No Bezel. That will allow the operable gauge file to fit the bitmap that's there Edited February 26, 20215 yr by RXP
February 26, 20215 yr Gee. Helpful people jumping in from everywhere here. That can really cause confusion. Fokker. Please clearly let the community and RXP know which simulator and simulator version you are using and specifically which aircraft you are attempting to use the products with. Gary1124 has the right direction to determine which products you have, but I do not understand "download F1's Purchase Agent. Simply log on to the F1 web site and view your purchase history in your account. Once you determine if you are actually using RXP products, then post these details in the appropriate RXP support forum here. Either in the xPlane or in the FSX/P3D forums. For each of those two simulator platforms you will find separate forums for GTN and for GNS. It will help you get help to post in the one that is most appropriate. February 26, 20215 yr Author All right, thanks all. I definitely started the purchase process from RXP site as it was them who had discounts. Sorry for confusion.

So post a question in either the GTN or GNS forums in the FSX, P3D section here, and first thing you should make clear is that jump to Windows 10. That will require that you reaffirm your license information in order for the installations to work. And in the same breath as you post there let us know exactly which installers you are attempting to use. Are they update installers? Or are they fresh installers just very recently downloaded from the RXP product pages? The gauge names changed between the legacy GNS and the V2 GNS, so that may be the problem you are running into.. It used to be: RXPGNS!GNS530, now it is: rxpGNS2!GNS_530_1 Newer aircraft releases will set the correct names.. older ones may still set the original name. Bert

February 26, 20215 yr Author Ok, have to check the correct gauge names, easy mistake when copy pasting tired and slightly irritated. First threshold was this overblown security thing, first installations were stopped first by virus detectors and then firewall. Then I had to reactivate etc. Installers are new, they check if it is the newest. Thank you for this great assistance.

I agree this is confusing, but technology moves along, and upgrading to the "current" version can be frustrating indeed. I just tried logging into a banking site that I have not used in a while, and they now have deployed "advanced security" which prevents me from logging in.. I feel your pain. 😉 Bert

I only mentioned about F1s Purchase Agent because I'm used to it, especially when I needed to rebuild after my Win 10 crash in November.
March 1, 20215 yr Author Some further general observations to this matter. First a general advice to all is to make installers trustworthy and entitle them with administrative rights to Defender and whatever safety application you use. RXP installers via F1 belong to most difficult ones, almost in the same class with FSDT and SSW. This routine became now new routine and it saves a lot of time and frustration. When pointing the RXP gauges to a spesific aircraft all instructions I have read this far repeat the "no bezel" option for a single unit and this hides the knobs from the pop up. Now in my case with an exaple aircraft being Carenado PC12 I got at least a temporary solution to use the DCT knob which work in popup. I wonder what has happened with technology as with the legacy 530all knobs worked as they should out of the box. Edited March 1, 20215 yr by RXP
