loading times, zzz...

Hi fellow simmers,

I'm wondering how much time it takes you to load fsx, and the how long it takes after you hit FLY NOW.

Lately fsx is very sluggish in loading. I reinstalled fsx after I experienced stuttering. That did the trick, but loading times have remained annoyingly long.

(Down below are my specs, plus installed addons.)

Times to load: From hitting the fsx icon on the desktop to the main screen- 95 secs.

Ultralight at bar harbor and FLY NOW to seeing the the ultralight over the scenery- 2 mins, 26 secs! I could make myself a sandwich!

From the previous placement to A321 at KLAX- 55secs.

From main screen to default A321at the gate EDDF (payware) - 4 mins, 23 secs! Almost gave up on this one. Then switch from that to gate at EGKK (payware)- 45 secs.

In addition I've noticed that if I switch view positions too much, it can cause a freeze up.

Between 4 and 8 minutes here depending on the scenery I’m loading. The OP’s 95 seconds sounds wonderful by comparison!

OMG you would hate the France/Occitania VFR scenery mod then.

Expect your FSX loading bar to be stuck at 6% for alteast 7-10 minutes while loading this scenery.

Its well worth the wait though imo...simply load it and go do something else for 10 minutes and come back🤣

This one and Drewaski Design Miami City X are my worst offenders when it comes to scenery load times.

Everything else loads in under 2-3 minutes on my SSD.

So it looks like I'm not the only guy that waits forever for fsx to load!

Just wondering if anyone here also has P3d to compare with. I understand that most of my addons would be compatible with P3d.

Eytan

hello

on P3dv5 :

world coverage with orbx (80pc of their sceneries)

plus 487 airports from others designers (I have doing a world tour)

a lot of aircrafts (most liners PMDG, a320...)

The basis screen for scenario configuration coming after 8min75’

the downloading of this scenario is ready after 1-2 min (without ground photo) to >8min following the use of ground real photo (as TrueHeart 3DA)

zzzz—- I use a bell and never stay front of the pc when downloading)

is a choice to accept.

Anti-virus software is infamous for slowing loading times if it is busy scanning FSX.  With most, if not all, anti-virus programs you can exclude FSX and any FSX related programs from being scanned.
