April 1, 20215 yr New to TrackIR...it's awesome. Only quip with it so far is that if I close the software with msfs running, when I start it back up, msfs does not pick it back up automatically. I need to close the sim to pick it back up. Is this normal function, or am I missing something?
April 1, 20215 yr Why are you closing it while in MSFS? In TrackIR you can assign a command to pause it if you just want to do without it for a while. James

But like Phantoms asked, why do you want to stop TrackIR and then restart it. Use "pause" instead. -J 13700KF | RTX 4090 @ 1440 | 64GB DDR5 | 2 x 1TB SSDs | 1TB M.2 NVMe
April 1, 20215 yr Author No reason in particular. I just noticed it happened when I did it accidently. 16 minutes ago, Twenty6 said: Yep. Works like that here, too. But like Phantoms asked, why do you want to stop TrackIR and then restart it. Use "pause" instead.
April 2, 20215 yr MSFS looks for it when it boots up, just like the logitech drivers, all the stuff in the community folder, etc. You can not launch it afterwards and have MSFS find it. James
April 2, 20215 yr I've had TrackIR for probably 10 years now and that is normal. Just about every game or simulator I've ever used it on requires it to be running first before opening the game. Is it done yet? When will it be released? Will it be freeware or payware? How much will it cost? Any updates on the progress? Will it work for Xbox? Can I be a beta tester? How's the performance in VR?
April 2, 20215 yr The issue is TrackIR not recognising the game is running, not the other way around. TrackIR needs to find the game, it is not the game failing to find trackIR. There is a work around if you really need to get it working without restarting the sim. ( note the same workaround also works if trackIR loses its updated game list and hence fails to recognise the sim) . Workaround: You will find TrackIR provide a small program called TIRMouse.exe which is intended for use in software with no native trackIR that needs you to emulate mouse look instead. Simply leave the normal TrackIR app running then fire up TIRMouse.exe . Edited April 2, 20215 yr by Glenn Fitzpatrick

As others have said - that's normal. Use pause. You can start MSFS then start Track IR. However, as it's new; have you checked for Game Updates - top right corner of the Track Ir screen? Also, as you become familiar with Track IR you might like to try Seth's Flight profile - which is excellent for cockpit use. https://forums.naturalpoint.com/download/file.php?id=61 If you just left click on the download link, it will try to open the .xml file in your browser, which will give you an error. To install the profile, right click the link, and save it to Program Files/NaturalPoint/TrackIR5/Profiles. Edited April 2, 20215 yr by Will Fly For Cheese

I've created a personalized profile using a few tutorials, but I'll certainly check out that profile as well.

April 2, 20215 yr Moderator Well, I have to disagree somewhat on restarting TIR. I have restarted on many occasions and it usually finds the sim. Both P3D and MSFS. HOWEVER - on those occasions I always open task manager and stop the TIR process and then restart it. Sometimes TIR will just hang for no reason and then I have to restart it. Doesn't happen often but as others have said, don't really want to fly without it. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
