Hi Friends.

I downloaded my version from the MS Store without a hitch but a friend has a brand new pc and has bought the boxed disc version. Disc 1 installs somewhere but disc 2 refuses to run and gives a message saying 'Cannot find path'. We have tried various ways and watched a few YT videos but still cannot get Disc 2 to run.

Has anyone else installed from the disc set and /or has anyone any idea what we can try. Neither of us are very techy and we simply thought that it would be straightforward to install the discs.

Regards...Ken.

Look for the install path on the c drive where the discs are installing and it maybe a default path that cant be changed by user?. Also you might be able to create a folder on desktop and copy the discs to that allowing for overwrites of files then eject disks and install from folder. Also go into add/remove and see if flight sim has been installed and remove and try the default path install again or try from the folder option. Also The sim may ask for a disc when running to verify for copy protection.

Added info.

Keep in mind that after installing from discs, you will still be faced with fairly large updates that will have to be done over the internet. The discs will reduce, but not eliminate the need to download several tens of GB.

Beyond that, if you can set up a custom instal directory, not use the illogically convoluted default, will probably save you some headaches down the line.

Hi Guys.

Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. Chris and I spent quite a few hours trying various ways to get that pesky second disc to run but it just kept giving us the rather obscure error saying simply 'Cannot find Path'. I'll report back with any progress.

Cheers...Ken.

Hi

Go to the vendor’s forum, Aerosoft. If there is a solution, you should find it there.  It sounds like a flawed disk to me..

I would have thought that they would let you install it from the MS store using the key that came with the disks.

My impression was that the disks were more of a collector's thing than anything else.

I agree with Dominique. It's probably a bad or dirty disc. The problem is that the installer doesn't think there is a disc in the drive. Even a fingerprint on the disc can cause that to happen. You may want to try cleaning the disc. If regular cleaning doesn't work try using a small amount of ordinary toothpaste as an abrasive cleaner. That should remove any small, barely visible scratches if there are any. Wipe the toothpaste across the disc from center to edge - never wipe it in a circular motion. Luck.....

I had the same problem, the DVD Rom drive could not read the data from the second DVD on.
All of my DVDs had no visible defects.
On another PC with a DVD burner everything was OK.
I had ordered a new DVD burner from ASUS.
With the new burner I was able to install all DVDs on the PC.

If the disc has a slight problem, it won't be able to be read, and also sometimes if the alignment of the drive is slightly off, that could cause a problem. One way to find out is if you know someone that has a drive, see if there drive reads the disc. If it doesn't the disc is bad, .

Also just so you know, if your friend does get his disc to work and manages to install the game, he will need to have disc one in the drive at all times when playing the game.

I didn't realize that. Glad I did a direct download. You could have this game for 6 months, and if the disc goes bad, you won't be able to use it again until you get a replacement disc.

Create an .iso image of the Disc 1 DVD.

You never have to keep the disc in the drive, nor worry about scratches ever again.

Hello F737NG.

Would you mind very much describing a way to do that. I've had a look and it seems that Win10 does not have a built in utility for it. I don't want to give Chris duff gen and I have no idea how to make an iso file.

Thanks...Ken.

Here's a YouTube video on how to create an .iso of a disc.

And here's a list of .iso creation software:
https://www.techwhoop.com/iso-maker-software/

Choose whichever program appeals the most. Just be sure to run a virus scan on the installer first.

Thanks for the links and the advice. I'll have a look. It's the old story, it may be simple, but if you don't know then you don't know until someone shows you.

Regards...Ken.
