Just Flight showed once again how professional they are during this debacle of a "developer" stealing someone else's work, packaging it under a different dress and reselling it. Just goes to show how lucrative the flight sim market is and the criminal lengths opportunists will go to cash in on it

For those unaware of the incident

Yes but there seems to be a problem developing just lately.  I understand certain legal implications, but it seems to be the fashion to do the shaming, but without the naming.

Whether it is someone accused of being racist in the British Royal family, or someone who claims to have been assaulted or abused by 'someone'.
It is all talked about, but if the evidence is there, come out and say who is is / was to help protect us all.
Also, this leads to rumours and potentially innocent parties getting tarnished.

So on that basis, who is the person or developer mentioned above?  People should name and shame if the evidence is concrete, not just tell a story.

In this new world of litigation for the sake of litigation, particularly in the USA and other "civilized" countries, I believe that it would be a very, very, very brave individual who "outed" offending pirates.  Look at Xplane owner who has faced several absolutely groundless litigations.  Unfortunately, you need a lot of money to defend these actions, regardless of whether or not you are right.

Tristan and the other two "grumpies" were quite right to not name the alleged offenders in my opinion.  I enjoyed that depate session by the way.

Even if they were named, that `developers' `company' is long gone by now and likely operating under a different name to ripoff someone elses work and repeats the cycle.

What's sad is those market places that enable it. Just Flight did a fantastic job here and should be applauded.

Yet as talked about in this podcast there is a CERTAIN marketplace that refuses to take action against developers releasing bootlegged and stolen products under a new name and package. I know EXACTLY what marketplace they were talking about too.

As  them, I will not name the marketplace, it's not hard to figure out. Stocked to the gills with $5 scenery from developers no one has ever heard of before

Yes, you are right.  I totally applaud Just Flight for standing up to this.  I really respect them and their customer service with me has been great over the years.

As for the other, I am perfectly fine with stating I am disappointed with some of the products placed for sale on SimMarket.  (There - I have said it! )

I do actually buy some stuff from there once in a while (the Dinghy microlight is a blast! 😀), and once again, the customer service (when needed) has been good, but it seems their standards threshold for what constitutes a 'product' can be quite low.  😕

Agree 100%. Why tell us that “someone has been naughty beyond doubt but keep their identity a secret. Tell me in a private message and I will shout it out. Everybody is fearful of a lawsuit these days, even the good guys.

As for Simmarket, yes they do sell a lot of junk and those customers that don’t do their homework will be disappointed when they part with their cash. There is a ton of poor quality, quick FSX conversion stuff for MSFS that looks absolutely terrible compared to the freeware being offered on flightsim.to but I do my homework and I do buy from them. I don’t mind that they don’t discriminate against lower standard dev’s. Even the MSFS Marketplace offers total rubbish. So complain about the MSFS/Asobo store equally if you want to criticise Simmarkets product offering.

Piracy is a whole separate ball game though. Offenders and those that knowingly facilitate their wares must be hung out to dry.

Reading between the lines, the issue in question was settled out of court and one of the conditions of the settlement was no one is to discuss it.

The follow up video tomorrow will be interesting as they are apparently going to discuss the Captain Sim issue.

Selling junk and selling « bootlegged or stolen products » are two entirely different things.

If an online shop sells stuff it shouldn’t do, calling it out demands specifics. Not vague assertions.

Simmarket may sell junk (beauty is the eye of the beholder or so they say) - the times are tough anyway - it sells  also excellent products including for MFS and saying or  hinting that they deal in illegal stuff borders slander if not proven.

Let us not go in the internet paranoia here.

There are plenty of complaints around by people claiming they advised Simmarket of piracy and were ignored and the products were left up.  Even the producers of this video are hinting at it.

Have they provided documentary court acceptable evidence of the alleged piracy and correspondence with simmarket ?   Not as far as i know, so these claims are currently hearsay.

However, there is enough circumstantial/hearsay evidence for me that I completely refuse to use Simmarket - ever.  I paid more the G91 at Just flight to avoid Simmarket and even missed out on the "one day free offer" for the Typhoon a few days ago because of that stance.  However as pointed out in the video most users do not care and even get angry and annoyed if the fact some of their content might be pirated is pointed out.

I want to know who "this developer" is....that is what inquiring minds want to know.

Piracy sucks plain and simple.

As I said earlier. They literally probably don't exist anymore, and under a new name.

These guys are just like those "Your cars extended warranty is about to expire" companies. When one goes down, eight more appear. They do it on purpose to avoid being caught

I am always very suspicious of campaigns over the internet under the cover of anonymous denunciations and the hearsays feeding themselves into an avalanche. Malice and stupidity are powerful engines on the networks.

If there are clear cut cases, not need for hinting. Bring all the word not allowed on the table.

Piracy needs pirates of course and the pirates are both the supplier and the user. The supposed ‘greed’ of the developer being the ultimate excuse of the latter.
