So much obsession with autopilots !  There is always slew mode if you are really adverse to hand flying for any length of time 😄

IRL you ask your bladder! It will vote for autopilot all hands LOL

i have yet have to use autopilot, and i do flights of up to 2 hours. most light aircraft do trim well, is my experience.

using autopilot is like watching a youtubevid, booring.

Will this have a free caster nose wheel? I really hope not!

I just find that when I buy aircraft without AP I simply don't get much use out of them.  Even on a short hop there's going to be a boring leg where I want to turn on the AP and accelerate time a bit.

Also when it comes to trimming and flying by hand, I tend to not trust the FS weather engine to not do something fairly crazy.  I once hit hurricane force winds over Ohio in May that came out of nowhere.  That's an odd ball case, but I still get random changes that come out of nowhere.

I just purchased an RV8, flying out to Saint Louis to pick it up next Friday if the prebuy goes well. In my year long search, I've seen everything, with/without autopilot, glass cockpit and steam gauge. The real issue with MSFS is we still don't have a viable moving map solution that can be freely moved around the cockpit in VR. It's a shame because pretty much everyone flies with some version of an iPad/Foreflight, no matter how their panel is outfitted.

In my experience, the MSFS autopilot still works for basic functions like heading and altitude hold, even if the aircraft is not outfitted with one. You just map the keys.

I did contact Terrainy and let them know I'd have my hands on an RV8 next week, but they never responded.

Wow, beautiful!

Hello everybody!

We are very happy that you are interested in our Van's RV8 project!

Just to answer a few of your questions, both the RV8 and RV8A versions will be included on the initial release.

Regarding the "basic" instruments layout, this will be the initial release configuration, but we are also working on some more sophisticated instruments/systems, which we are planning to release later on.

We have already a few RV8 pilots on-board, to help us create an as close to reality as possible RV8 aircraft.

The aircraft will soon enter the Beta phase of the development.

Beta applications are open, and you can apply through our Facebook page.

Finally, @moespeeds we have not received any messages/emails. Our email address is: [email protected]

We would be more than happy to have you on-board!

Again, thank you all for your interest!

Kind Regards,

Terrainy Studios

Sounds good thanks for reaching out!
