RAM heat sinks are more for show than for go, even running at 1.45v. July 14, 20214 yr I have had 32GB DDR4-2400 since like early 2019. So I only know the game on that. Just the game uses like 25GB of ram for me. Side note, last week, I upgraded from a 6700k to a 5900X. Anyone do the same an notice any really difference going from 2400 to 3600 mhz ram? I saw some videos but it’s like 5 FPS better. Seems silly to spend like $200 on the same capacity I currently have just faster. On a Ryzen 5xxx it is actually preferable to have two dual rank 16 Gb modules if you want 32 Gb. More stable for overclocking the memory and the same benefits as 4x8 single rank... I use 2x16Gb G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4 3600MHz (F4-3600C16D-32GTZN) that are dual rank and rock stable at 16-16-16-36 timings and XMP profile (3600Mhz). See my note above about getting either 2x dual rank or 4x single rank for maximum performance. But above 3600 really does not give much and is tricky to get stable. I posted recently about the impact of overclockability of CPU, and being able to run RAM at the same mHz when going from 32 to 64Gb RAM, and the opinion in that thread was generally CPU overclockability might go down a tad, and RAM mHz will likely need to go down a bit. I posed the question because right now I can still pick up 2x16Gb of the identical RAM whereas in the not too distant future that may not be possible. I ended up concluding it wasn't worth it as my system is so stable now at 5.0Ghz all cores with fairly low vCore, and XMP, and I'm now enabling HT. I rarely see more than 20Gb of RAM in use, and right now coming into Madrid, about 16Gb. Plus, in terms of paging if it is happening it may help to have m.2 NVMe drives which I'm using. I have a sneaking suspicion the top 8Gb of that 24Gb of VRAM in a 3090, and the added 32Gb of system RAM will likely rarely to never see the time of day post next performance update, especially at 1440p.
