@neil0311 of course you realize that there are paid noisemakers in here that want to trash MSFS.

IOW take everything with a grain of salt.

Who do yo think is paying them? Don't be so reluctant, we love conspiracy theories ... 😉

The selling point for MSFS 2020 was the great looking visuals when flying VFR, just like flying in real life. I know very high end training sims do not have this, I have flown one that cost over $20,000,000 made by CAE, but that is not what MSFS was advertised to be. Now all of a sudden, these stunning visuals that everyone including many YouTube reviewers' commented on, are not there anymore for many of us. That is what has users all bent out of shape about. They buy a product that does something very  well, and then after you get used to it, they take that away with an "update" which I would rather refer to as a "downgrade".

I just took a flight around my local area that looked exactly as it does in real life. The streets were all where they were supposed to be. The buildings were all where they were supposed to be. The topography was as it was supposed to be.

That’s what I want. Whether the tree is an oak or a poplar doesn’t matter to me.

And I’ll just say that when contrasted with the generic textures and landclass based vector scenery in FSX or P3D, it’s leaps and bounds ahead, regardless of real or perceived quality changes.

I invested hundreds of dollars in photoscenery in FSX/P3D, but it was a 2D experience. Now I get a 3D experience and guess what…it’s also updated when that new road or building is built. Cities look amazing.

I can see though that I’m probably in the minority, at least on Avsim.

Thanks @neil0311 for your post. Any hint of the “live weather temperature bug” in your flights?

Can you describe the details for me? I’m using the live WX feature but not sure which bug you mean. I can check.

I really believe you

@neil0311 Sudden change of temperature (and wind). In flight, the temperature will change by tens of degrees, stay there for a while, then revert back. I’ve seen it as low as 3000 ft.

Add to that altimeter readings that are not correct. ATC keeps telling people to climb or descend, when their altimeter is telling them they are on the correct altitude.

Are you for real? Those who don't share your views are paid noisemakers?

Paid by whom exactly? The Great International Anti MSFS2020 Lobby? Lockheed Martin? Austin Meyer?

Since you are so sure, make names, give us some details, figures, way of payment: is it monthly or weekly? Cash or Bitcoin? we want to know.

This is getting more and more disgusting.

Last comment from me, as repeating myself doesn’t help anyone. I do think some folks have forgotten the “flight” part and are obsessed with the “simulator” part, and aren’t as concerned with whether they can intercept the ILS or lock a GPS approach and land without visual reference. I love VFR flight, but when I’m under the hood shooting a practice approach, I’m looking at and scanning the panel. I don’t see trees or the ground or anything else.

There are (were) many wonderful things about this sim, though, like you, flying IFR (and doing it with as much realism as possible) was my main purpose.  I have an older PC, though it's in fairly good shape and I wasn't having any issues beyond an occasional stutter.

After this update, my flying experience has pretty well been trashed.  Before the update I was using about 8 aircraft and looking forward to learning the attributes of more.  Now, I have only had one successful flight - only one aircraft is working for me right now.  I won't go into the litany of all of the issues.  I will say that the sim is much smoother and there have been some wonderful upgrades in nav systems - however, that doesn't mean anything when you can't even get off the ground.  I'm continuing to experiment and I'll probably get more working but it's going to take a lot of work.

My  controls worked exactly the same like they did before SU5. Not sure what you mean.

I'm having many issues with controls - I had no control issues before the update.

There are no issues btwn the controls and my PC.  There are no issues btwn my controls and the sim (Options area shows full response to all inputs).  But start up a flight and it's a different story.  One aircraft will work properly - the next will have no elevator response - the next will be totally out-of-trim, and so on and so on with aircraft after aircraft having control input issues.  If I go back into Options, everything works...

I am noticing now flying into JFK, that if you look out the window, no head movement at all, the scenery within a mile or two of the aircraft at 3000  feet AGL, slowly pops in. This has nothing to do with fast panning or looking around, this is what FS9 used to look like as you flew along. Also, the trees now all have a sort of shimmering look to them it is horrible compared to what we had last week.

That sounds more like a video driver or antialiasing issue. But I’m just guessing.

Yup, Su5 broke my brand new driver that was working fine until the update, Now I get it.  LOL

A lot of the landscape appears "soft" to me now.  It's as if half of the resolution is gone or someone used a soft-focus filter.  Also, the landscape images that are used as background during the transition to flight are especially bad.  The images are really interesting and would normally be attractive, but the focus/resolution is now so bad I would think MS/ASOBO wouldn't want them being displayed with such poor quality.
