CTD Before Getting to Start Screen

Featured Replies

Pete,
Again, as I stated at the start, when I had an issue with the sim even starting it was a login/authentication issue.  Unaware of how to check that with Steam.

Thanks, I may mess around with Steam tomorrow and see if there is something there that needs to be done. I will also check the Steam Forums and report back if I find a solution.

Also don't rule out file corruption which you can verify by reading the Windows logs.

To fix run a cmd window with admin privileges and type chkdsk /f on your MSFS drive.

When you restart Windows chkdsk will fix any lost clusters which could be part of a MSFS file(s)

Running the sim will then re-download any files affected by chkdsk if needed.

Follow up by doing a disk cleanup / optimization.

We had to run chkdsk alot with the early harddisks.

It won't hurt to run it in any case.

Good luck with it an have fun.

If I run a too aggressive voltage/frequency on the GPU I also get this. Did you overclock the GPU?

Had this with the Sonic Studio Driver. Written in the Logfile of Windows.  Delete Soinic Studio and Sim starts again.

Are you using Proccess Lasso by any chance? If so disable that before attempting to load. You may need to restart disable PL immediately and then try to launch MSFS.

My MSFS always goes black for a few seconds when starting.....

Mine too. I was just wondering if that was when it crashed.

This could be it. I've seen others who fixed it by deleting Sonic Studio.

I had something like this occur recently with FSX SE when nVidia driver 471.11 added NvCamera32.dll to my system.  Fortunately I learned of it during my 3rd day of conducting web searches:  https://steamcommunity.com/app/314160/discussions/0/3046104862447471029/

Renamed that file to keep it from working and problem solved.  that Amazing how fickle these issues can be.  Hope the Sonic Studio is the issue that cures your MSFS issue.

Nope, no overclocking.

I've been having a very similar problem ever since the two hot fixes.  I can load up and get to the screens showing new things, and then a pause, and cdt.  I do have the latest windows updates and NvIdia drivers, but even when I've rolled things back, I can get to where I can load up a flight, but as soon as I get to pan around the cockpit, freeze and crash.

This also happens when I load up Starwars Squadrons....I can get in, load up, do the training, but within a few minutes of use, pause and CDT.  I'm now focusing on Power Supply, or Vid Card....ugggg....

This one sounds suspiciously like bad VRAM on the GPU. Try underclocking the GPU memory as a test.

Glenn,

After doing a search on that, I see there are a bunch of options for software to download to do this, as I have an NVIDIA card, what tool would you recommend?

Thanks for the tip!

I don't think my issue is related to hardware, since my PC is less than a year old and I run P3d on it without issue. After work I will try some of the other suggestions.
