Shoutout to all truckers out here.

Featured Replies

Hi Gentlemen and Gentle Ladies 🙂

This is a shoutout to all the truckers who drive heavy semi trailer trucks around US, Canada, UK, Europe, Australia and other parts of the world while also have a strong passion in aviation.

I hope you are all doing well and that you are all safe and chugging forward.

I myself just recently passed my CDL A license here in Toronto and I am anxiously waiting for my first solo long haul.

Quick question - do you guys treat your trucks as a pilot does to his/her aircraft ? 🙂

I'm not a trucker but I would guess the answer would be yes.

The tires are worn.  The shocks are shot.  The steering is wobbly.  But the engine still runs fine.

I try, but I can't get the truck to do a loop. One day...

I'm not a trucker, but I play one on American Truck Simulator/Euro Truck Simulator...  😜

I have known well a number of truckers over the years and it covers the gambit.  Owner/operators are very much like pilots in regard to your post.  Lessees fall not too far behind.  Then not to a man, wish to state that clearly, those who have no vested interest in the equipment are not generally at the same flight level.  Not unlike a number of GA pilots who simply rent.  Again, not to a man.  Just overall.  Former military pilots in that category largely excluded from that observation.

I can see that. As a flightsim and aviation enthusiast I am glad to have developed this sense of following SOPs and developing customized best practices based on my own experience and learning from others. I am just super excited to put all that learning into action as solo driver.

Wow thats awesome and good to know. I am heading out shortly for my first team driving trip. Depending on my availability I might start a short blog describing my experience.

That would be interesting Biloo.  My son-in-law is a truck driver and owns his own rig.
