MSFS AI is strange

Don't usually fly with AI on but tried a few flights. Interesting problem - whether I use Live traffic or AI Offline I see NO airborne AI unless I enable the labels. If I disable the labels, the AI becomes invisible. Tried turning it off an on during some flights and it would show and disappear  every time I toggled labels. Using Little Navmap I can see the traffic on the map but not in the air. Even with 100% traffic - same thing.

That's strange. I never have labels enabled but I see AI traffic. I usually fly with live traffic and there are planes airborne as well as on gates/taxiing. Just back from a flight after takeoff at KSFO with several planes in the air around the airport and one landing.

Shouldn't be server-related if Little Navmap displays the planes. Must be a setting but honestly I don't have an idea which one.

Kind regards, Michael

I see them too no labels here. On a side note I thought the logic of AI would be improved but it worse then P3d. Imho. Wish we could just populate the airport's with static AI. I know there is a mod but just some major airports involved.

I think something is up, but it's only become a problem for me recently.  I've never enabled labels, and I had previously always seen AI airborne traffic until the past few weeks.  I've seen traffic on TCAS, and had the ATC call traffic, but nothing visible outside the plane.  It's oddly intermittent for me, though.  Sometimes they are visible, other times they'll pass right over me within a couple thousand feet (or less than a thousand, as separation is optional for MSFS ATC even in Class A), yet nothing is visible.

Whats the difference between labels on vs off?

Labels "off" disables the traffic name plates you see on AI or human traffic.   Labels "on" shows the Airline ICAO code or username, the flight number,  altitude, and type.

The default name plates are white text with giant boxes around them.  I hate them,  they destroy immersion.

When I fly alone I turn them off,  and identify other aircraft with Little Nav Map on a 2nd display.  (or by ATC)

When I fly with friends,   I turn them on.   But,  I use "cppr-nameplates-v2-green". https://github.com/clompsy/msfs_nameplates

You might find them more palatable until the problem is solved.

I'll post the codes here,  because I often find myself looking up traffic when I don't already know the code.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airline_codes

Maybe this will help.  Since Updated 5 ai traffic lights are snafu.

The flying aircraft will either have a label with flight information or not have one.

As above SU5 broke many things and one of those were the lights of aircraft in the distance, both AI and Live.

All hail SU5, the monumental fiasco in all its glory!
