Carenado Seminole: Slow cruise?

Featured Replies

I know with this latest patch they fixed the jet-like takeoff roll hehe... But they seemed to have killed off the cruise power.  I can barely make 150 KTAS at 8000 ft.  If you really push the Seminole you'll true out around 170.  140-150 ktas would be maybe 75% power.  If only the flight model was editable.....  *heavy sigh marketplace*    At any rate, anyone else seeing this?  edit: found an old chart....looks like I was pretty close with my guesses.  Again, full throttle, mixture leaned, cowl flaps closed and props 2700 rpm, cannot get more than 150 ktas

I thought it was slow on day one, didn't like it much compared to the Mooney.

But I'm loving the Seneca, it's really fast.

What else does it offer in depth over default MSFS models?  I completed a long flight today in the RYTB and did not lose much if any speed with greater economy!

The Seneca has 2 x 220 hp turbocharged engines, and it will climb like a mountain goat all the way to 26,000 feet. It's fairly nimble, the autopilot behaves rather nicely, and it works with the GTN 750 addon.
The modeling and texturing is top tier like with other Carenados. They've modeled a small flight computer where you can get a lot of info on fuel usage / economy as well as electrical system load / charge etc.
It also has a weather radar that works great, but it's only available with it's core functions. All in all I really like the Seneca. It's friendly on the FPS too.

What does this Carenado model provide to manage the pressurization at above threshold altitudes?  In how many aspects does it provide systems depth, for the license costs, beyond the depth of default aircraft models?

I am on a trip flying the RYTB from Kansas City to San Jose.  Let's compare speed and fuel costs.   That is how I fly!

Oh, I did contribute to Robert's efforts, so lets disregard that and your outlay for the Carenado Seneca.  I believe you will at best be tying down when I arrive and I bet I can much better afford to treat for dinner and spirits!

Perhaps not always the depth. Asthetics! It's a lot about steam vs glass. Subjective for sure but some of us like it older style 😉

You're right Ryan. FT, 2400rpm, rich of peak ending slightly below 150 TAS. But to be honest I did not fly her a lot at the moment so can't remember if she was really faster before the fix. I usually go only around 6000 feet and take the sun visors 65% or 75% at 2400rpm. Then she is a bit faster...

Steam gauges may give less "information" than an MFD but arguably provide more sensory feedback. The rate that the altitude needle is plummeting or the way the VSI is oscillating gives a visual feedback not available from an MFD ribbon and flickering numbers.

I fly the Seminole at 23 squared both before and after update. Seems about the same as far as cruise speed.

Exactly this, I don’t like glass cockpits at all unless It’s a tube liner, anything GA for me has got to be steam gauges of which the Seneca offers, also why I got the deluxe msfs for the steam c172, as again I’m not a fan of the glass stuff in GA at all.  Personal preference is all.
