Not to be pedantic but to be fair, the idea as far as I know isn't that James Bond himself would be replaced by a woman since he's obviously a man, but that the code name 007 would be given to a female agent, which works because these code names are assigned to whoever takes that place and re-assigned to other agents upon retirement or death of an active agent. They don't carry an identity. The same has happened already several times, such as different people in the position of M and even 007 used to be someone else other than James Bond at some point for a short time. James Bond would still always be James Bond. Not saying I'm content with it since the tag 007 of course carries that identity informally, but it makes sense and there are a lot of other examples out there that really don't make sense; where actual characters are suddenly turned into a different gender, ethnicity, etc. for the sake of diversity rather than creating new characters from scratch to support diversity.

Why change something that has worked brilliantly for 58 years? I’d never watch another 007 / Bond film ever again. And I wouldn’t be alone. Political correctness gone mad. Ray (Cheshire, England). It's like in Casino Royale in which Bond retired for a while. 007 designation would be transferred to another agent but JB would still be there, himself, in the movie and likely return at some point to his position and probably regain the 007 designation. It's happened before. I think the outcry this time around is because many misunderstood and thought James would be turned into Jane, which indeed would be nonsense.

I understand where you’re coming from but as things currently stand Daniel Craig has finished and we await the name of the new Bond. That actor needs time to bed in and to be accepted by the public. It’s not the time to blur things by introducing another temporary 007. Ray (Cheshire, England). October 5, 20214 yr Author James Bond is 007. If they mess with the formula that franchise is dead to me. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

As I stated in another thread, I would watch a movie based around the "new" 007 in No Time to Die, but then I have a bit of a thing for beautiful black girls Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester

October 6, 20214 yr Love this one but figured someone had probably already posted about it back when I saw it. I think Joseph Gordon-Levitt did an amazing job and it's hard to recall a movie filmed on such a limited location--Lifeboat comes to mind, but no, 7500 is really claustrophobic.. Weridly, the guy on Apple TV's Mr. Corman looked familiar and I realized it was the same actor. Awful show, by the way, wisely cancelled by Apple. Still stuck with the pretty dismal Foundation as their new prestige production, but Ted Lasso and Morning Show are decent.
