I have what I have, this may well be my last.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

At least with the future launch of Intel's Alder Lake, it looks like the new Z690 motherboards will allow existing DDR4 memory to be used in place of the DDR5 memory. At least this an is an option for new PC builders.

I guess high prices for new tech are to be expected. Prices should drop in time.

Meanwhile, very few of us need those speeds.

I'm with you. I'm too old to worry about this kind of stuff. What I have works just fine and it'll probably last as long as I do.

Fast DDR4 ie 4400mhz is a better option than DDR5 at this point.

I don't think you will see any difference in fps in MSFS2020

The timing on that memory though... CL40 the latency is huge. That memory is no better than CL20 3000MHZ DDR4

Which modules? But yes, latency is higher for DDR5 but that's understandable because so is frequency. Latency will go down in time and frequency even higher but latency will always be higher than DDR4. Performance is about latency and frequency.
