DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG solution

I had one several days ago when loading the male avatar to look around the airport.

It may be a one-off. The good news is it wasn’t a DXGI error. See if it happens again. What aircraft and where were you?

Ray,

PMDG 737 enroute LIRF to EGLL,as i said before never experienced this CTD before.

Gary.

Try the same flight tomorrow departing at the same time if possible. I bet it doesn’t happen again. If it does and it’s around the same place it suggests a scenery issue.

Remember this topic is about DXGI errors. Everyone gets CTDs from time to time. Mine was the first time in ages but I was switching from the PMDG to an avatar. Strange things sometimes happen.

Gary, that's great news! I haven't seen the increase in performance you have but I had a feeling things just felt and looked better. Hard to quantify really.

I hope your flights are problem free from this annoying bug.

I decided to update my drivers today and tried the DDU/NVCleanstall way. A few problems with NVCleanstall, I tried a couple of the additional options (not really knowing what I was doing) and it refused to run. Eventually I got it completed by just ticking drivers only. Can't say there is any improvement in performance, sitting at EGLL gate in PMDG 744 with full AI and reasonably high settings, I am getting 18fps.. Maybe it will turn out to be completely stable on longer flights. At the moment flights are limited to only 4/5/ hours due to planned power outages

I made one change in the settings in NCP. “Prefer Maximum Performance” was selected over the default.

Remember to have a profile for P3D in NCP.

Yes, I use Prefer max. and I am trying sharpen to see if I can get clearer instruments. I envy your 4k picture of your panel. It is unbelievably clear!

What resolution are you running? 2560*1440 will give good results.

The 1080 should be capable of 2560*1440 so the next time you feel like a new monitor consider one of those.

Are your flights problem free of DXGIs?

Yes. Completely. Haven't had one since they became so popular a couple of years ago! Mind, I have had your fix implemented all that time. So, you must take some of the kudos.

It would be interesting to know how much the TdrDelay registry entry contributes to the solution of the DXGI problem, and how much the upgrade of the GPU driver.

The fact that you had this error with the older driver despite the active entry indicates that it is not an all-out panacea. Would you want to risk remove this entry and see how your flights go, just to isolate the factors?

It has crossed my mind but I don’t want to tempt fate just yet. One further flight today in the Vertx DA62 in a very cloudy Canada.

Further flights yesterday and today totalling nearly five hours and the sim remains perfectly stable.

I’m keeping the Registry settings until the end of January. On 1 Feb I’ll remove both entries and see what happens.

Looking forward to your results!  I am going to wager that you won't experience DXGI errors with the entries removed. Hope to be proven right 😉
