Wow - heard of REG Designs?

Featured Replies

I was browsing the Marketplace (I do that a lot but I rarely buy from it) tonight and noticed yet another stunning looking addon by REG Designs.  I think they're out of Toronto.  I haven't purchased any because I rarely fly in that area.  But it just happens to be a bit east of the eastern boundary of my sector - so maybe I'll make some flights that way.  Anyway, their scenery looks extremely good and is easy on the pocketbook.  They've got Guelph (featured on FlightChops videos) CNC4, Burlington Exec (the new one CZBA), they've got Kitchener CYKF as well and I think a small Hawaiian airport too.

Just throwing these guys out there - I know there are some Canadian flyers on here

Great find, Ryan.  Last year we upgraded the scenery in the Hawaiian Islands for Aerofly FS2 and PHLI, Lihue, Airport was one of the more scenic airports that was included.  Great members from all corners of the Earth was represented on the team.  Kauai was the first island we released. This is one of the most scenic of all the Hawaiian Islands, especially in VR.

Try a flight between PHNL and PHLI. Lihue is also one of the stops for the Cruise Ships that circle the island chain.

Ray

I just jumped over to the Marketplace and picked up their PHLI scenery.  $11 wow is a steal.  You can get PHNL scenery at flightsim.to and have two very nice Hawaiian airports.  Maybe we can add a few more over time.

It turns out that flightsim.to has enough Hawaii liveries and sceneries to make it worthwhile to spiffy up a few spots on the islands. I added HIlo airport on the big island where my family took a helicopter tour of the flowing lava a couple of years ago.  The Pearl Harbor pack is a good one for the low and slow folks flying around Honolulu.  You will want to upgrade Waikiki Beach with that scenery pack for sure. The A320neo has Hawaiian Airlines and Aloha Air Cargo liveries and there is even a Hawaiian themed C208.  Hello Hawaii, thanks Ryan for posting the scenery link. Don't overlook the big airport PHNL - nice free scenery for this one.

Ray

Thanks for the heads up Ryan…these will nicely complement the other GA friendly airports available in the Greater Toronto area and just beyond (Buttonville, Toronto Island, Brampton/Caledon, Waterloo, London).

Edit: I see they created Waterloo, so I already own one of their airports, I can concur it’s very well done!

Thanks, being from Ontario I fly often in that end, I’ll be sure to check these out.

Yes, I have their Waterloo and Guelph airports and was happy to see this one released yesterday -- it is on my favorites list. Their sceneries are great. I have been so pleased to see how many quality airports have become available for Ontario - Ottawa, Buttonville, Brampton, Burlington, Guelph, Waterloo, London, Timmins, and I think Windsor is being worked on as well. There is also Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay, but not done to the same quality. There is a great freeware rendition of Markham and a few other smaller airports like Westport. Just a few other key airports like Peterborough and Kingston and the region will be very well covered. This was a dream in FSX/P3D and for me, the level of development -- pay- and free-ware -- is a strength of MSFS.

MSFS 2024. Primary Planes: Black Square TBM850, Duke, Baron, Caravan; A2A Comanche; FSReborn Phenom; Fexix A321; PMDG 737-7, 777: Utilities: Active Sky (Passive Mode); BATC, FSLTL.

I see a CYAM on Simmarket but it looks pretty basic.

flightsim.to I guess has payware now as well (this list shows freeware and payware sorted by Country for Canada): https://flightsim.to/by-country/CA/

Timmins is on the Marketplace and I think it was MSFS Scenery Builders. Their quality seems to range from mid- to low-level in my estimation. The quality on Timmins is not too bad but CYAM was really not so good, unless you really want it, I would not recommend it. They also did Kapuskasing, of all places. It again is not too bad. I like to fly Northern Ontario so I did not mind paying a little for some destinations.

Yes, he did a really great job on Ottawa. I grew up there and have been through that airport many times and his rendition is excellent. He has been quiet for a while but I hope he picks up another project soon. To be honest, I wish he had gone ahead and done Pearson, he has proven himself capable and I would prefer not to wait 5 years for Fly Tampa to maybe bring a rendition to the sim. It really is a critical airport for Canada.
