Asobo's silence on the weather mess

Recommended Posts

It seems that the weather is fixed now for Asobo, no comment on the low clouds and the visibility issues.

Let's not stop reporting and asking them to fix it.

It's clear in Dubai right now, but I found a webcam in LOWI, pretty much documenting the above. METAR reports visibility 9999.

Asobo don't do the communication, Microsoft so, therein lies the problem.

MarcG is correct. Silence means nothing in relation to what Asobo are or are not doing. It's up to MS to issue communication.

Having said this, I'm sure someone did post a link, in another thread, to an acknowledgement on the official forum of weather issues and a fix currently being worked on. I know I saw it.

I’ve got that response from their support desk.

problem is that what they exactly mean by “currently working on it”.

i mean they work for dx12 for 1 year+…

weather issue can be fixed by SU8 or 9.. and not hotfix by looks of it.

there is a rumor however on official forum that hotfix is due until tuesday.

And this is the Thanksgiving long week-end. Not an excuse but an explanation. Remember what Art Buchwald wrote long ago

And so, on the fourth Thursday in November, American families sit down at a large table brimming with tasty dishes and, for the only time during the year, eat better than the French do.

Let them have a quiet digestion.

For those who don’t know it, this is Buchwald’ s hilarious column of 1952 explaining TG to the French.

Well, there you go. I knew I'd seen it somewhere. They are working on it. It means what it means. It will be fixed when it can be, such is the way of development, and it will be released in the manner and at the time when Microsoft, the publisher, decides. Nothing more to be said, other than wait.

Not sure that they have been working on DX12 for that long -- on the PC side. They were working on the Xbox build initially, which is DX12, then switched to working on the PC implementation more recently, it would seem. Although, that's neither here nor there in relation to any current bug investigation and fixing. Completely different scenarios.

And!? I was merely stating Asobo don't do the communication, I made no reference to needing communication at that specific time.

The problem with this weather "upgrade" is that it is so bad the only fix for now is to roll-back whatever changes they've made in SU7.

Which is the issue as they had plenty of time beforehand to issue an update, instead they all go off on a jolly holiday knowing full well some of their customers are upset with their lack of communication...!

There are no excuses, it's poor, period.

"Thanksgiving is a national holiday celebrated on various dates in the United States, Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Liberia." - Wikipedia

I don't see France in that list.

Some friends are calling this latest iteration "Smog Simulator." 😐

We sure don’t celebrate TG  in France but as said above the communication is made by MS which the owner and distributor of the sim not by Asobo.

Truth ^ . Perhaps someone might have released a little blurb or something saying, "We know there are problems, and we're working to fix them."

I flew into KBFL 30R last night and didn't see the rabbit until 3 miles from the threshold. The haze/smog/bull dink looked more like Beijing than Bakersfield.

KBFL is probably not the best example to pick to illustrate the problem.  Looking at the METARS for Bakersfield for the last 24 hours at aviationweather.gov, every hourly report has “HZ” (haze) in the METAR, with visibility ranging between 4 and 5 miles. No METAR was any higher than 5 miles. This is one airport where the conditions you describe would have actually been appropriate. 5SM visibility (or less) is officially considered “marginal VFR”

That’s not to say that the new system is not inappropriately placing much denser haze than it should be based on current METARS in many locations. The problem seems to be worse in western parts of the US than in the east, and there is the additional problem of cloud bases being placed too low, which exacerbates the problem.
