Asobo's silence on the weather mess

We sure don’t celebrate TG  in France but as said above the communication is made by MS which the owner and distributor of the sim not by Asobo.

If the French would celebrate Thanksgiving it would certainly be followed by a strike.

I love how these threads always devolve into "Yeah but it's weekend, it's 17.00 so they went home, it's a holiday, maybe they are relaxing, oh no it's Christmas soon, oh wow new years and did trinity sunday just happen, it's the janitor that needs to make the announcement, give them time guys", we can basically keep this up until 2022 at this point 😄

Yes but then again this sim is on 10-year track of continuous development  and as Jorg has said they are very excited as they prepare awesome stuff which will blow us away. Also no pilot will be left behind. Thats important too. We should be thankful for all that. Did I say that no pilot will be left behind ? And it is a 10-year development too.

If they keep taking the Sim backwards like in SU5&7 then in 10 years time they'll be back to the drawing board 😄

My hope is that they simply rollback the weather changes in a hotfix.  If they want to play around with the weather, let them do it on their own development machines until it's right.

It seems that the weather is fixed now for Asobo, no comment on the low clouds and the visibility issues.

Let's not stop reporting and asking them to fix it.

It's clear in Dubai right now, but I found a webcam in LOWI, pretty much documenting the above. METAR reports visibility 9999.

The top image looks really hazy less than 1 mile from the airport. It looks like the airport is just coming out of the haze, or just about to go into it - probably within the next 10 minutes.

In the bottom image, the haze is over the airport. It seems like an accurate depiction of the actual conditions, just with less than 1 mile or 10 minute precision.

Are you saying the sim should be modeling these < 1 mile variations with absolute real time accuracy?

The main issue is, that they have seemingly eliminated all but 3 types of clouds now;

We have some puffy looking cumulus, a transparent puffy-like something puffs, and some kind of low-growing from the ground-up puffy clouds. Ugly. Not sure why they did this other than to make frame rates better, maybe? Not sure that is the case though.

Stratus are gone - and even though the sim still attempts to make stratus layers, it is just some transparent mess you can see through.

Multiple layer clouds are all but gone too - yah sometimes we get multi layer now but always some kind of puffy transparent puffs. Nothing is opaque anymore. I thought clouds are usually opaque!

Here is a shot from 2020 before Asobo ruined the clouds - this is someone using Aerowinx hooked up to MSFS via WidePSX for scenery. Beautiful!

Notice too, how the multiple layered clouds are OPAQUE - and the sunlight reaches to the layer below - this is how MSFS clouds USED to be, and I miss them!

It's not hazy now either: https://innsbruck-airport.panomax.com/

I am saying that if the "new weather system" is based on METARs and the internal MSFS METAR for LOWI reports visibility 9999, I don't expect to have 20 meters visibility in LOWI.

I am saying that if you "upgrade" a weather system to another weather system, there must be some kind of advantage over the old weather system. If you have sudden transitions, worse accuracy, visibility issues, why change it?

But people don't go on strike for fun, MR FUZZY. You should know that... If frogs had wings, they wouldn't bother jumping.

Speaking of weather, I thought the icing issue was fixed with one of the last few updates. I have been flying the DC6, and it has anti icing, so I had icing turned on in MSFS. Last night I decided to fly the Seminole into Anchorage Alaska from Homer, and while I was at the ramp Homer getting the aircraft ready to taxi, the windshield iced up solid. I went into  the menu, and turned icing off in MSFS. Didn't do anything, still stayed iced up.  I finally had to change the weather to clear and warm. Guess I will have to stay away from cold climates with the Seminole.

Not my experience. I did a flight out Detroit eastbound a few days ago when there was an active storm system over Lake Erie. My cruising altitude was 27,000 feet, and I had multiple layers of varied cloud types with “somewhat cirrus” clouds above - they were probably around 30,000 feet. I say “somewhat cirrus” because MSFS has never had a correct cirrus depiction from day one, but what I saw was similar to the “cirrus-like” clouds (more like thin status) that I have seen many times in previous sim versions. I didn’t take a screenshot, but will do so the next time I encounter similar conditions.

If this thread isn't the textbook definition of entitlement, I don't know what is.

Give them time to work out the kinks.

I mostly fly in Europe and I find the weather depiction to be fairly accurate for this time of the year. Yes, the clouds are way too low. I'm assuming this will be fixed in the next update(s).

News flash: real weather depiction in the sim is still a work in progress. Imagine that!

For me, the real problem is the lack of seasons, especially now during the transition from fall to winter. But that is topic for another discussion.

Let's see what news this week will bring.  If we hear nothing this week about a hotfix expect to ride this out until January which is inexcusable. 🤨

@Ricardo41 There's no entitlement i can see, asobo broke something and have communicated little to nothing about it as yet, and people don't like it.
