Recommended/Favourite scenery designers

Featured Replies

Seasons Greetings everyone!  All the best as we wind down 2021 and look forward to a healthier and happier 2022!

I’m still browsing for scenery addons despite having a worn out credit card from family Christmas purchases. I’d like to hear from others about their recommended and favourite scenery designers. I have many but the following really have impressed me for quality and support:

Flightbeam, FlyTampa, FSimStudios, Orbx, Paulo Ricardo and Dreamflight.

Thanks in advance for making the time to read this and sharing your opinion!

WF Sceneries for VHHH and ZSPD (and anything else you might like in China), JetStream Designs LFPO, Taxi2Gate v5 versions of LFPG, KMCO, OTHH (they are not "great", but close enough for such big airports). In regards to value for money I'd mention Drzeweicki Design (spelling yeah) for their New York, Chicago or Seattle Airports packages (multiple airports in one package; solid, well aged [but old] sceneries with good FPS).
Some Aerosoft airports are also quite good, though not high quality. EDDF, LIMC, LEBL, comes to my mind.

Latin VFR airports are good too, but in P3D they will make you run out of VRAM unless you have 11 GB. So nothing for you, I guess.

Seriously, there are so many great airports out there, you got to restrain yourself and your credit card!

Speaking of LatinVFR, for v5.3 do you recommend using scenery with or without PBR?

Without, but it makes hardly any difference whatsoever: Still looking beautiful, still having extremely high VRAM usage. Only thing that helps is "medium texture" setting in P3D, that makes VRAM go down to 6 GB, which is perfect for almost any GPU, but unfortunately cockpit textures degrade, too. It can be a workaround though, since you can change it quickly back to 4k once you are airborn. That's what I do.

Digital Design, MK Studios, and Taxi2Gate make good sceneries.

FlyTampa, Taxi2Gate, FsimStudios, Flightbeam, MK Studios are my favorites.

Any that test their products before releasing them, and don't overdo the eye candy.

Quite simple really.   So it rules out orbxs and aerosoft straight off the bat.

👍 Also agree with others on WF’s VHHH and ZSPD.

Now if only we can get a nice FlyTampa sale.

I forgot LVFR and their newer stuff.  While vram heavy, that's not a factor for some cards

Yes. It’s very nice. If you like GA, look at Wycombe too.
