December 31, 20214 yr Hello guys n girls Firstly, may i please pass on my bestest wishes for a happy, healthy and better New Year. I have somewhat of a saga which I shall shorted to its minimums. I have yet to have a flight since update 7 due to numerous problems. I have uninstalled and reinstalled about 6 times and I cannot get VR to work properly ... I get the taskbar, but cannot activate anything using the mouse.. I have a large checklist screen which opens without any input on my part and I cannot close it. I have allocated VFR cockpit screen/outside view/and VR reset to my yoke but none of these activate or change anything. I have reallocated those mappings to each of my controllers (Rudder and Trim wheel excepted) as well as the keyboard, and that does not work either. As is recently normal, each update has me having to remap all my requirements. Note that everything works as normal except for the abovementioned Views. Eventually, I did my usual headbanging and hairpulling before I resorted to a full uninstall using the uninstall function in the ms start button. After three full uninstall and reinstalls (none of which fixes the problems I tried my 4th effort and found that I got to 99% and got an error message. This is just the initial install through the XBOX app. So I figured that it was an XBOX problem and uninstalled and reinstalled that and tried again. This time it got to 100% but with the same error. I went into the start button and noted that flight sim is there so I tried to run that as an Administrator. Nothing happened with that so I tried to uninstall it. That no longer works either so it is still listed in the programme list It won't run and it won't leave either. I am really at my wits end with this and I can only hope that someone can help me. As you can imagine this whole process has taken place over quite a period of time and I take the time to fly XPlane after each attempt at rectification. Also, somehow in all of this I managed to delete my unbacked up "Community Folder" and I am still in the process of rebuilding it. (lots and lots of things to unzip LOL) Anyway, Happy New Year again to all Regards Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. ASRock Taichi X570 CPU Ryzen 9 3900x (not yet overclocked). CTDs, weird loading issues, stutters on the ground, unable to load photogrammetry, settings not saving, local air traffic not showing up, Dev mode off not sticking, to name a “few” Eventually, I gave up and reinstalled windows fresh. Yes, I know that “nuking” the system seemed ridiculous but I bought a 5500 pc in aug 2020 for the sim (and not to mention the 3080 and g2 later) and it was just totally fubar. Well, nuking worked and I have it running well over the last week (3ish hours of work start to finish) “smoothly”. That said, in VR I just hit a flight where the view is “vibrating”. Others have experienced this as shown in the vr forum. Always something with this sim…

January 2, 20224 yr Administrators Tony, I have moved your topic to the correct forum! Too many problems with the new Sims! 😱Trying to keep peace and harmony and the will of Landru on the site seems to be a full time job!
January 2, 20224 yr My suggestion, empty Community folder, don't use VR , plain vanilla MSFS, with just basic controls set up, and see if it runs. If it does, then start adding things a few at a time to find what is causing the problem.
January 2, 20224 yr I certainly can relate since my gaming machine has been down since October due to not enough nternet. Come mid February I hope to give it another go and also hope for better luck than the OP. 🙏 Cheers ns Edited January 2, 20224 yr by bean_sprout AMD RYZEN 9 5900X 12 CORE CPU - ZOTAC RTX 3060Ti GPU - NZXT H510i ELITE CASE - EVO M.2 970 500GB DRIVE - 32GB XTREEM 4000 MEM - XPG GOLD 80+ 650 WATT PS - NZXT 280 HYBRID COOLER
January 2, 20224 yr I know a few will say don't do it. But whenever i have come across issues like your having i have done a complete re-install of the lot, including windows. Luckily now i have a fast internet connection so can download MSFS in just arounnd an hour now, and keep all my addons on two other Nvme drives, so there's no loss of the data held on all payware or freeware addons. It's the only i have ever got back to a stable sim again. However, as I said many times in other threads, I always rename my community folder and any reinstall or update is vanilla. That, however, is not my problem. I have now done a Windows 10 uninstall and reinstall and started again. This did indeed, get rid of the remnants of MSFS and I was finally able to reinstall MSFS. I am still working on rebuilding the community folder but what is in there is working well. Also, Bob, I wish to iterate the fact that, since SU3, I have had to do uninstall and reinstall with every update/hotfix. I do appreciate that I am one of a minority and that most people do not have this problem. It is extremely annoying and frustrating, but as I keep saying, "It is worth it" and I still have my very stable XPlane 11 for the really hard times LOL Also, I have just completed my first flight since the release of SU7, AND, my community folder will be backed up. Regards to all and I hope the New Year is better for all of us. Apologies to Charlie and I will try to do better next time. LOL Tony Tony Chilcott. My System. Motherboard. January 3, 20224 yr himmel, If I were you then the next reinstall of MSFS I would NOT use the default location. Instead install it at some short path name such as C:/MSFS. This cures many problems some of which sounds vaguely like yours. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Well, my troubles have not yet been sorted. Firstly, I noted on startup this morning, that all my controller mappings have changed. I spent 3 hours deleting all mappings that I do not use and then remapping the ones I do use. Once that was all sorted I copied the configs to two other drives. This proved to be a smart move because every time I get into MSFS my mappings have changed. So I simply copy the saved version and replace. After all this effort, I now find that after I use one controller (ie throttle for Cessna 172) that none of the other mappings work until I exit MSFS and restart the flight. The endless loop has begun. I have no idea what causes this nor do I have any clues about how to stop it. BUT... I have had one good flight yesterday and that is a plus. After four hours plus this morning, I fired up XPlane 11 and flew for a while very happily. If I cannot get any help with these problems, I may just shelve MSFS for a few months and then uninstall and start the whole process again. As much as I love this programme, the frustration is wearing me down and XPlane 11 is a great substitute (except for the scenery of course.) 1 hour ago, Fielder said: himmel, If I were you then the next reinstall of MSFS I would NOT use the default location. I have a dedicated 2TB SSD just for MSFS which I bought the day before I installed the programme. 9 hours ago, Car147 said: I know a few will say don't do it. This was done after numerous uninstalls and reinstalls of MSFS to the point where I just could not uninstall MSFS. I figured then, that I had a windows problem in addition to MSFS hassels. I have 10 drives on my computer ... 1 for Windows, 1 each for P3D/XPlane11/MSFS (DCS and Aerofly share one too) I also have 3 seperate drives for addons and accessories for each of the above and 2 external drives for Movies and Music.I still have a 500gb SSD for FS2004 and accessories but this is not connected. January 3, 20224 yr One thing a non default MSFS location cannot do is to prevent Steam Verify Files from causing a complete reinstall. I had read elsewhere that a non default location would speed up Steam Verifying files tremendously. But it doesn't work. Right now Steam is downloading 115 GB after I verified the files (my location is not default). 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
