More immersive of an experience when formation flying with friends to name one.

didn't  think  they would  use  their  radar  for  formation  flying ,  thought it  was  all  done  by  eye  ball 🙂

Anyone know if or when it will be out on orbx and does it come with the carrier that appears in the video?

Sorry for any confusion, I don't know what pilots do in the real world to stay in formation. Immersive probably wasn't the best word for me to use since that typically implies "realism" as well - in this case I just meant for sim pilots it would add another level of depth to be able to target other pilots and get precise speed/alit/heading readouts.

I've been watching some YouTube videos on this tonight and wow, what an interesting aircraft.  The STOVL version looks to be a lot of fun especially.  Will certainly pick this up once it makes it to ORBX.

IRL, formation flying requires constant stick, throttle and rudder movements even when the lead aircraft maintains a fixed airspeed, altitude and heading. It's a very intensive process, remaining "in-close" at 350 knots, an average cruise airspeed for a fighter, so having that data would not make much difference unless in perfect ISA conditions with zero winds etc, in which case it would become possible to "autopilot" in close formation - neat, but not much fun 🙂

Does the VTOL capability make the F-35B a Bush Aircraft ? 🙂

(Oh and it's up on OrbX store now)

The carriers (it will be a pack of with an America Class and Ford Class) will be a separate purchase later for as cheap as they can make it. It's separate so they can update it individually.

The F-35 is on ORBX now.

This is the most fun I’ve had with a fighter in a long time.  Spent most of the day playing around with the -B variant…the STOVL abilities are really neat to play with and very easy to use. Going to give the -A variant a shot now in Norway.

I had one CTD the first time I flew it yesterday, but I’ve done about 5 flights since with no crashes.

Edited by Tuskin38

I had one CTD with it today, the first CTD I’ve had in the sim for a long time.  Then when I relaunched the sim the F-35 wasn’t available to select for a flight.  I did a verify files in the ORBX installer and the aircraft was again available to select.

Just had a second CTD and again the F-35 wasn’t there when I reloaded the sim.  I’ve sent an email to support.
