Anyone Using REX Airport Textures?

Featured Replies

Is anyone using this recently released product? It's a reasonably inexpensive price to purchase, but my main question would be, what happens to textures at third party addon airports? On the website blurb it says compatible with 'most' third party airports, but that's a little vague. Just interested in hearing some feedback and opinions.

From what I understand, if the third party airport uses the default fs2020 textures than Rex will change them but if the developer put in custom textures than Rex will not change them.  I bought it on sale.  It certainly makes the default airports look better.  Not really sure about the third party ones.  BTW, there is a 12 page thread here that may help you.

It’s a great add on that brings lot of life to default airports and freeware mod airports that use default assets. I especially love the winter textures on the runways and ramps.

On highly custom 3rd party airports Rex cannot inject their textures.

Very helpful, thanks. Methinks I'll get this today   BTW, thanks for the link. Dumb of me to have missed it

Recently? Wasn't this released last summer?

Still can't believe people fall for that REX hype marketing talk. Reading the text on their site about this add on already makes me cringe. Yikes. Come on, Howard, you just wasted money on mesh, do you really think this is worth it?

The days of scenery (enhancement) packages are long gone for me. But to each his own. 😉

Yeah, I know what you mean, REX/Tim do seem to be masters of marketing, erm, talk(?) But I have used their products for many years in P3d and FSX and have been very happy. I have in fact just installed the product and yes, if you only fly from third party, paid airports, then it won't do anything, but as I now have found some excellent third party airports on flightsim.to I have seen a noticeable difference using these textures. The first airport I visited was Bergen, which has some questionable taxiway textures, using this product replaced them with far more realistic textures and getting rid of the false, bright oversaturated taxi lines. It now looks great. BTW, you're right about the Norway mesh though!

Zinertek looks more realistic in my opinion.
