FlyByWire Simulations | A32NX | DME Arc

Featured Replies

Hi there,

Support for procedures containing DME arcs has been long requested. We have now added this functionality to the experimental version as part of our updated LNAV. Check it out in action in this video:

Fantastic!
Thanks again and again for the hard work.

I wasn't the pilot. But true... 😁

You guys are amazing! Thank you so much for improving the A32NX. Much appreciated!

Most of what is said on the Internet may be the same thing they shovel on the regular basis at the local barn.

So if i do a flight from say FLL to MKJS and have say either LENAR or OMAXI  stars (Theoretically Since they have been recently suspended IRL) then the LNAV will properly implement the STAR no issue ?

Will test when i get home of course but this would be great for both MKJS and MKJP since they seem to use arc approaches a lot.

Hi, they should work perfectly. However some edge cases might cause problems, so if you encounter anything, you can report it here or on our Discord - our objective with experimental is for people to try as many things as possible so we can see what we missed.

Some other factors can influence how well it works - for example, there is no logic for reverting to other turn algorithms at a too high speed yet on DME arcs, so make sure to meet speed constraints.

Thanks for the rapid response.. Will check tonight!

Update - looking at the chart, this is a DME only facility, which means the DME arcs cannot be coded in ARINC424 format, causing navdata to omit them. meaning unfortunately it will not work.

I apologize for this being kind of off-topic, but have you guys had any indication as to what might be causing the performance degradation when flying the A32NX? This issue presents in other aircraft too but for some reason it's really pronounced in the A32NX. Unfortunately this keeps me from flying and testing it lately 😞. Maybe it's a sim-wide issue?

This is awesome news. Looking forward to checking this out.

Can you give us any updates on how the VNAV is coming along?

Which version of the aircraft are you running ?

It's coming along well. The code is currently being written to support predicting step climbs and step descents, as well as correctly predicting performance and fuel usage for acceleration segments.

Great thx for the continued updates. If you only could separate the two mcdus. For shared cockpit a must

We do plan to separate the MCDUs, but also the actual FMGCs as well into two independent systems.

Slightly off topic - are there any recommendations on a good guide to making full use of the currently available LNAV features in the FBW? Either video or a manual?
