February 21, 20224 yr Hello all I am really getting frustrated as a newcomer to FS2020. I have been an FSX user for many years but the following problems are getting me more crazy than I am already. LOL. Excuse me if I just list what is happening 1 Many of my keyboard commands do not appear to do anything in the sim {I have done tests to verify all the keys are working} 2 sometimes I do not get a Ready to Fly message and I left without any way to either go to my flight or escape 3 I cannot find a reset key to go back to the flight 4 Sometimes my controllers stop doing what they are supposed to do in the sim There are many other things that happen that leave me stuck and unable to get back to the flight. Sorry for all these problems but I am unable to move forward to enjoy my hobby Thank you Norm
February 21, 20224 yr Maybe your system does not meet the requirements for FS2020. Without more info and specific things that don't work, it is impossible to help you out. State system specs. Aircraft model you are using, USB devices and profiles, as well any added SW or peripherals. The sim works very well when set up correctly with good equipment. Please be more specific. February 21, 20224 yr Welcome, Norm! besides to what 177B said, do you use mods in the community folder? Did you assign key commands manually or do you use the default presets? Give some concrete key command as an example so we can take it from there, step by step. Also, what do you mean by „resetting“ a flight? Unpause a paused flight? Close the menu? Again, unfortunately some more specifics would help us to help you Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 21, 20224 yr To me, this sounds like a controller and keyboard issue, rather than a sim issue. I'd suggest getting a cheap XBOX controller, which is pre-programmed by MSFS to do all the essential tasks of flying, as well as navigating the menus, which are completely different from FSX. Remember that the XBOX controller is a product of Microsoft, and therefore works very well with Microsoft Flight Simulator. I've used an XBOX controller, connected to my PC via USB, for many years, both on MSFS and P3D. February 21, 20224 yr Author thank you all for being so kind as to replies. my system is Ryzen 7 with 32 GB ram and was built especially for loading FS 2020. In fact I was initially running FS at maximum everything and was getting above 60 FPS. to eliminate potential reasons for my problems, I have since cut down to much reduced quality within FS. This made no difference to my problems. what do you mean by „resetting“ a flight? example I start an easy training flight from the menu, and half way through I want to restart there is no menu item to make this happen like FSX restart? USB devices and profiles I have many even including a motion based setup from Simcraft. while troubleshooting ,I only use the keyboard Saitek X52 and rudder pedals. Also, no matter what resolution I choose there are many times when the FLY NOW is not shown for example when I make some option adjustment. This forces me to use other means to get back to where I was/ in the cockpit. Last night suspecting my keyboard( Logitech G15) I went through all the listed assignments and found that only about half of them did what they were assigned? Thanks again Norm

You should be able to hit ESC at any time during a flight and get options to return to the flight, restart the flight or return to main menu,
February 21, 20224 yr Author I know I tried that but it doesn't work? Even though the key is mapped? The assigned mapping is Set Pause off thanks Edited February 21, 20224 yr by Norm

On my system, sometimes the bottom click spots like "back" or Fly Now" are covered up by the Windows task bar when in window mode. Try hitting Alt+Enter to switch between the two modes and see if that is your problem or not. February 22, 20224 yr I would disconnect all the USB devices except keyboard and mouse. See if things work. Then add them back one at a time. Make sure you have enough USB power for all the devices. I use power hubs instead of just the motherboard ones, as MB does not supply many watts of power over usb. And do try another keyboard if you have one handy. Start with as simple as possible, and then add items one by one to find the culprit. And start with ban empty Community folder. February 22, 20224 yr Is it possible that your USB ports for your flight controllers shut down to save energie (sleep mode)?

The assigned mapping is Set Pause off thanks After the last update a lot of people were complaining that their key settings had changed. I remember I had several aircraft that I couldn't change to external or drone views because the keypad keys were screwed up. But I also had one profile that the Esc key no longer worked, and I seem to recall reading that it was assigned Set Pause Off. If your ESC key isn't taking you out of the sim that's not right.
February 22, 20224 yr Author I am beginning to think that my situation is being possibly affected by the fact that, although I installed flightsim over a year ago, I haven't used it ,and of course it has been updating to the various versions unattended. it would also be beneficial if there was a document that listed in chart form the changes that have been made in the last 12 months because the Escape key, problem as you said ,could have been part of that Thank you

There is something wrong with your keyboard mapping if the ESC key does not pause/un-pause your flights
