March 2, 20224 yr Author Most users with Xbox MSFS on Youtube are not using flight controllers, but just the Xbox controller. There is a POV on the left and a 4 way rocker on the right. The rocker on the right has 4 positions for 4 different commands. But you have a right upper and lower flipper and a left upper and lower flipper right under your 2 index and middle fingers. And as we know MSFS allows for assigning a 2 key command (such as right lower flipper + X on the 4 way rocker). So the right 4 way rocker can really become like 4 hats! It will do 16 different commands based on which of the 4 flippers you are also holding down with a finger while you tap the 4 way rocker with your thumb. If you aren't holding down a flipper then nothing happens when you tap the rocker if you just reassign MSFS to act that way. You really don't need flight controls to make the sim very playable on Xbox according to the Youtube videos. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. It's exactly the same as the PC version used with an Xbox controller, but without a keyboard so, more clunky for sure, but all controls are accessible in some way. March 3, 20224 yr Author Some of the addons, like for instance flightsim.to, will not work on Xbox. I'm not sure if that is only a few or if that is most of them that will not work. The ones in Marketplace are all supposed to work on Xbox. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. March 3, 20224 yr Author Thanks for that info! The good news is all the World updates. And the Husky, Staggerwing, JU52 are in opinion worth every cent of their cheap price. Very easy to control. I don't mind the vintage squirrley auto pilot on the JU52. It's old and doesn't work like a nice modern one. Almost more trouble than the good it does. But those two pull handle rudder trim levers keeps the plane reasonably on course while you're not paying attention. The Husky is wonderful in the bush and OK on water. March 3, 20224 yr As an entry the bare simulator is plenty of fun already. MSFS looks so good even out of the box that the serious beginner has enough tasks to look forward to, including the lessons and bush trips and stuff. And according to Jörg they are seriously working on the gateway system. Those more serious will certainly buy addons at a later point. And while I can't say having an intimate relation to the Marketplace myself, it provides plenty of choice. March 3, 20224 yr Author I'm thinking of buying an Xbox |S just for fun. A little light flying while watching TV or interacting with the family. I wish we had an Xbox only subforum on Avsim to see what those users say about it. Xbox fliers probably leave after looking around on Avsim now, it just confuses them, most topics do not apply to their simming. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. March 3, 20224 yr lol ... casual gamers on mobile devices. the "serious" study level folks will be apoplectic 😄 Artists impression of the next generation of MSFS flight simmers ...
March 3, 20224 yr I have now tried it on three devices. Normally I play vr on an i9-9900k with a 3090. I have the Premium Deluxe version from the Ms Store. I also have an Ultimate Game Pass subscription. Both are using the same Xbox account. I am using the Microsoft Xbox controller + wireless adapter. 4N7-00007. This is because I don't console game, but have been in the XCloud beta from early days. I first tried it with my Android Microsoft Surface Duo. When I connected it loaded quickly and started me with plane last used on my desktop purchased version. Via 5G at home, gameplay was smooth over New York. I believe it to be 1080p. I tried on 4G cellular this morning while having coffee, and performance was very smooth, but some banding periodically appeared in sky and water blues. Tried at work on 2.4 which in our strip mall shop is a bit congested, and no banding occurred but occasionally stutters, and sound stutters in external view. 5G on same router was fine. Connected my 12" Acer Switch, i5-6200, Win 11 Dev. Wireless similar on 2.4 but better on 5G. CPU between 20&40%, GPU <5%. Wired Lan played butter smooth. Pretty much same results on an i5-6300 Asus work laptop. Neither has anything special for graphics cards, and they aren't necessary. What was cool was when I switched devices, after pausing game, it picked up mid-flight when loaded on next device. As more of a general aviation, sightseeing player I found it very good. All of my partners and employees were impressed, and as we are a custom PC shop, it holds some merit. My mobile X-Plane has now been deleted from my phone.
March 3, 20224 yr Author ^Interesting real world report^ It's a no go for me due to the high subscription price of $15 per month. $180 per year. An Xbox S is only $300 one time price forever. So Game Pass Ultimate only makes sense if I wanted to go portable or in love with the games you get to try each month, and a few you get to keep each month. None of which is of interest to me except MSFS and FIFA. The list of games on the MS site are not exactly the block buster titles (except for those 2). To me its a large assortment of bargain basements. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. March 3, 20224 yr Oh man. I am now flying MSFS on my Galaxy Note 10+ and my PC from the cloud. There is also lotsa other games to play like Forza, Need for Speed and MotoGP. I have connected a bluetooth Xbox controller to the PC and phone. I bought Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. I can also install lotsa games on my PC, but its the cloud streaming I want. Next I will pair my controller to my Galaxy Tab.
March 3, 20224 yr Author Bringing in thousands of casual gamers to MSFS on inexpensive devices will keep the MSFS franchise profitable. Which is good news for desktop flyers. When they shut down MSFS servers from the cloud, most of the nice scenery will be gone. Hopefull that won't happen for many years. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
