I don't generally have time for more than one full airliner flight per week, so if it's expecting me to fly daily or I lose points or something, I'd have to pass. Anyone know? May 4, 20224 yr APL 2 is flexible to your availability. You can choose to fly on a schedule for bonus points, but you can also choose “worry-free” scheduling to fly when you want for no loss in points.

From the user manual: Contract types: depending on what type of contract you signed with the airline, you might get a bonus or a penalty depending on your number of hours/flights you completed in the past week. The types of contracts are: • Worry-free - no targets to meet. You are free to fly as much as you want. • Number of hours target - this type of contract has a target set to at least 5 hours/week. If you reach your target, a bonus of +10% will be added to your base salary, otherwise you are subject to a penalty of -10% of your salary. Also, there is a clause that states if you have no registered hours in one calendar month, your contract will be terminated. • Number of flights target - this type of contract has a target set to at least 10 flights/week. If you reach your target, a bonus of +25% will be added to your base salary, otherwise you are subject to a penalty of -25% of your salary. Also, there is a clause that states if you do not complete any flights in one calendar month, your contract will be terminated. Totally flexible as others have already said. And schedule doesn't mean you have to do the scheduled flight at the time of the real flight. You can fly whenever you want and can also set the time in the sim as you like.

I think it's great and I only know the basics so far. There is some lack of flexibility in not being able to fly any plane from the get go. You have $5K to start, and that doesn't buy a lot of aircraft licenses. So before I realized how works I bought a B787-10 and then didn't have enough to buy a CRJ series. So I reset the thing to start over, and bought the CRJ first. This leaves me less than the money required to by a 787. I also love to fly all over the world and not sure how that's going to go. W/ AH2 I set up 5 airlines so could fly all over from various bases. So this of course lets you fly many different liveries and can even be the same pilot. I don't know how that's going to go for APLv2. Can you fly for multiple airlines all over the world? This type of flex is what I would hope for. FSCaptain was great in terms of flexibility you could fly anything, anywhere anytime and the 'career' building piece was very incidental. You have to work your way up, earn money for new licenses and apply for other airlines (but you can only fly for one at a time). It will keep you busy for weeks, months, years and it will take some time until you can fly another aircraft type. I guess that's the idea of simulating a career. Nevertheless I would as well appreciate some kind of optional "easy mode", where these (realistic) limitations do not exist.
May 4, 20224 yr An honest question: Isn't it boring to fly the same 3-4 routes back and forth for the same airline? I tried APL 1 and while I understand the concept, I got quickly bored after my 3rd Cologne to Mallorca flight with Eurowings in a week... I know you can change airlines but AFAIK only after a week and even then you are restricted by your rank/money whatever. I like to be somewhere else every day and mimic a real traffic flight as good as possible, including all procedures. I don't really know why anyone would need a very restrictive flight generator for that... what's the advantage? For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I'm still on V1 of APL and you can do that in V1.

But still you will always fly from your hub / base, so every flight you see the same airport, right? For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. I think it depends if you have multiple hubs so in your case you might not get as many new ones. But I'm not sure. I guess you need to check and see. I know for me, I am using Alaska Airlines I have a few hubs to pick from and can generate different new schedules so it doesn't get boring like you said.
May 4, 20224 yr Grabbed it. Nice bit of program! The only thing I'd change is being able to tweak which airplanes the airlines fly. I know, then it wouldn't match reality, but neither does MSFS - there are several airlines that fly stuff that you can't get in MSFS yet, and on the flip side, not many are flying the MD8x. Other than that though, I'm having fun with it. Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

It also works very well w/ PACX if you like that sort of thing. So for now I'm more or less putting up with the restrictive part of this. I've skipped the return flight at least and I thing w/ the No Worries mode you can do this at least I hope! Yes my habit since I got AH2 was to setup multiple airlines and routes but in the end it didn't add enough as I really could care less about running an airline. It would also be good if you can have multiple pilots, or if you could be employed by multiple airlines simultaneously. I wonder if SBW is open to ideas like this. The downside of APL is that it steals from a major attribute of MSFS in particular: sampling scenery from all over the world in no particular order. I guess the best I can hope for is to get to a top international airlines w/ hubs all over the world at some level. Then you could simple reset the schedule until a route pops up that you're really interested in flying...today. For example you can get the licenses for the ATR and the CRJ and use the Aerosoft CRJ to also fly the routes that use an ATR in the real world.
