DC6 GPS

Featured Replies

I haven't flown the DC6 in awhile, and this morning fired it up, and the 430 GPS was stuck on setting frequency. Nothing else on the GPS worked. I realized that I had added the GTN 750 mod into the community folder in order to add it to some Carenado Aircraft. I removed that mod, and now the DC6 GPS is working again. FYI

Not sure if it will help but the Pimarc 530/430 GPS mod has recently been update for SU8 compatibility.

I think this was a false alarm. There was a W10 update, and I had not restarted PC. After I did that I put the GTN 750 mod back in and everything is working as normal.

Bob,

if you can, upgrade to Win 11. I don't look back and MFS never ran so good....

That darn windows update, if there is an update waiting to be installed, you will know it, cause nothing works right. However it takes the brain a bit of time before it gets the hint, then once you get it installed, it nabs you again if you don't reboot. Of course, if you didn't have Windows to mess with, you wouldn't have MSFS>

Well, as I flew this afternoon in the DC6 I discovered yet another problem. Every time I would turn the Gyro Pilot to LOC to track the GPS flight plan, the GPS would instantly switch to LOC from GPS. After rebooting and screwing around for awhile, I finally decided to uninstall and reinstall the DC6. That fixed that problem.

The other issue I am seeing is I have the Num lock keys switching views in the cockpit, and all of a sudden the switching is erratic. I don't know if SU8 broke this or the latest Windows update. Anyway, I am done with this, going back to my GA aircraft which just work without all the hassles.

The Oculus company still has a posted warning on their site about using Windows 11 with their headsets. Some things work, other things don't. It all works with Windows 10. That's what they say. And that's what I found out. I had to revert back to Win 10 to get Quest2 headset working with all features again.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

Thx for your note @Fielder.

Actually since I never used VR I couldn't tell the diference or be affected by that, but for those using it it's important to stay with Win 10 until ASOBO or the VR HW makers fix the problems.

BTW, inspired by Bob's initiative to pick the DC-6 and go flying, I started the "PMDG Operations Center" and got an error message - not able to conect with the PMDG Server...

Found the solution here: Operations Center - PMDG Servers down ? - PMDG General Forum - The AVSIM Community

And yes, yesterday's Win 10 updt was more intrusive than usual because instead of waiting for your approval to download and install ( which can also cause disruption on most occasions ), it started pushing the update and then installing it in "Stealth Mode"...

Happy user of Win 11 and the Quest 2 here, no problems on my side there. However, the PMDG DC-6 has been acting up badly the two times I fired it up after SU8. The first time, the plane went into a sideways dive right after takeoff, as if the autopilot was engaged (it was not). The second time, the flaps indicator was stuck and some other instruments didn't work either. I didn't have time to investigate more, but good to know that I am not the only one with problems since SU8.

I just read a post on the PMDG forum with another DC6 having the exact same problem with switching views with the Num Pad, since SU8.

They are also seeing this issue at PMDG per their tech support.  Here is a work around on their forum.  https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/pmdg-dc-6-cloudmaster-forum/164857-using-numb-pad-keys-to-switch-cockpit-views-erratic?p=164932#post164932
