Maybe it is just me but i feel somehow strange every time i press that 'heart icon' when i am in line with someone's opinion on the forum.

Is it lame or am i nitpicking here?

I think 'thumb up icon' would fit better here as it is also aviation gesture all over the world.

I’d love someone to explain to me the difference between the upvote and a heart.

Surely if you agree with a post you like it? Under what circumstances would you upvote something rather than like it?

Of course there could never be a down vote or thumbs down. Too divisive. If you disagree with a post put a counter-argument forward.

TBH i dont use upvote that often, but i do find it useful when a well thought through post is sent e.g on a complicated issue

(a few of those with MSFS 2020) . For me,it is sort of is a way of acknowledging a post above the much more used 'like' button.

@icewater5, so would you say the upvote carries more weight than the like option?

Exactly. Thats probably why it is used quite a lot less.

Just to add that another potential use of the 'Upvote' button is that it can draw attention to others for

a particularly informed or important post.

 

I agree about the 'thumbs down' option Ray. Not needed, as you say just put forward a counter-argument iff need be.

Yes Ray, that upvote is also confusing for me. 

I think there should be one icon if u like something.

'💙' is strange as it is about love, and definitely, i do not 'love' posts or members who have created those.

@Bob Scott, care to offer a view on the like and upvote options? Is one significantly different to the other?

Another forum (not flight sim related) has options for like, thanks, useful and agree. Too many perhaps but maybe the upvote could be classed as useful.

Hover the mouse over the icon and slide it to the left slightly to choose the "Upvote" icon...

The other 2 flightsim forum sites that I visit have no features like you are requesting.  The way it's done there is if you reply and post a +1.
