April 1, 20224 yr no, not an April joke ! Realturb has just released its Clear Air Turbulence (CAT) module, available at Simmarket. Awesome, one more realism building block. Just encountered some from EDDF to LOWW, incredible as usual in the FSLabs A320, as you can see it and hear it ! You can get a CAT forecast here : https://www.metcheck.com/WEATHER/clear_air_turbulence_charts.asp So, about time to use the seat belt switch during cruise 🙂 Mike 1. I think the CAT module is a global module on top of the existing Realturb modules, which simulate turbulence based on terrain analysis. So these are usually close to terrain, while you encounter CAT at higher altitudes (FL200-FL360) 1. A320 home cockpit (FSLabs, Skalarki), P3Dv5 Main PC : I7-12700K, GTX3080Ti 2. FSLabs A3xx, P3Dv5. April 1, 20224 yr How often is CAT encountered in real life? From what I understand it can be a pretty serious incident when it is. Vic green

Anytime you are in proximity of jet streams you run a risk of encountering CAT. Safest route is to pass beneath the core of the jetstream since the worst CAT-areas are above the Core on the "warm side" of the jet, and level with the jet stream core on the "cold side". April 2, 20224 yr That's a nice addon that enhances realism further. As I understood it, it takes real life data about CAT - but how? Is it permanently connected to the internet? By an extra application? For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

April 2, 20224 yr Thanks for the heads-up, RealTurb's other packages are a must-have in my opinion as it makes flying in areas with terrain so much more challenging, and thus more realistic. To have the risk of CAT now even more so. Remember to do your preflight briefing properly! Edited April 2, 20224 yr by thepilot
