Lost performance after SU9 update.

Recommended Posts

Is there anyway to just skip this update for now???

It's really odd indeed. I see folks gave fps trouble. I did two hours flight yesterday and have notice any fps drops. However, some things people reporting like lost connection to azure ATC and photometry  data feed happened to me many times prior SU9. I blame my provider as once in a while connection is wonky. I do have high speed 170mbs but not immuned for short connection drops.

Sorry, could you be a bit more explicit what the fix is? I see the Australia, France, etc  photogrammetry in that imgbb link. What exactly am I supposed to do? Deleting France and Australia etc. Photogrammetry completely isn't an option for me. Should I re-install it or something else?

Thanks and sorry for being a bit slow with thinking.

Kind regards, Michael

MIchael, it sounds like you are seeing the same thing I am regarding this so called "fix". Do the search like he says but only see the World Updates in the results, not the PG Cities that his pic shows. He brought this up in another thread and I asked about why I wasn't seeing those files, but I never got an answer. Maybe you will have better luck.

Uninstall what you are not using and restart the sim. There are 7 entries as shown in the pic. You don’t need to uninstall the entire world update, only those small files.  For whatever reason over on the MSFS forums they figured out that those 7 files affect the entire worlds photogrammetry, especially US airports. All 7 installed at the same time destroys the global FPS but any one installed makes little difference.

You can reinstall as needed. If you fly in France install it, but recommend keeping all others uninstalled. If you are flying France to Germany keep those two installed and uninstall the others. If you uninstall one restart the sim. If you are installing one you don’t need to restart. Just fly. It’s not ideal but the performance is more than worth it I think.

What you'll want to do is hit the little dashes and lines icon beside the "Box" icon to itemize all of the separate packages in the world updates. You can then uninstall just the photogrammetry cities to see if it will help with performance. The POI's, airports, etc from the WU's don't seem to have any impact on performance. Uninstalling just the photogrammetry cities seems to vastly help folks who are mainthread limited mostly. Don't forget, you'll need to restart the sim after uninstalling the photogrammetry cities to see the effect. For installing photogrammetry cities, you do not need to restart the sim.

My frames get wrecked once I touch down and taxi in to the gate.

If it happens thats when it does.

The new KBOS and KRNT for me are bad unless LOD to 100 so it well could be photogrammetry

You have to click the box highlighted with the arrow that says,”Click this first”. That removes the filter that groups the world updates into one package. You’ll then see the world updates broken out into their parts. One of those parts is the photogrammetry cities.

Hope it helps!

Intresting I watch a steamer at KOBS today and he turned of photogrammetry and you could see the diffrence but FPS stayed the same. He did not reboot the sim.

Does removing the city PG have an impact on the visuals? In other words, what am I giving up by uninstalling those items?

Probably another voodoo fix.

Delete the entire sim - framrate issues solved!

Thanks guys, for the several clarifications. Not sure I want to loose the PG cities (e.g., the recently updated ORBX Sydney suggests having PG Sydney installed). However, given uninstalling/reinstalling is simple I might try it out.

Kind regards. Michael

Thanks, I found it now. Just deleting the files and without restarting it took my fps in the A320 at JFK to 29 setting at the end of the runway. It was 21 with my 5800x. I now wish I could have tested this with the 5800x3d but that is already listed on Ebay with bids on it.

Yes. But the issue is that the mere fact of HAVING the photogrammetry cities from your content manager installed hurts performance all over the world. And that is why this is an insidious bug. Who would think that having say, a photogrammetry city installed in Spain would affect your sim flying in, say, Phoenix? You wouldn't. No one would..but it does for a lot of people. So what I do, is when I'm flying in North America, I have all the world update photo cities uninstalled.

Then say, If I want to fly into Sydney, I'll install Sydney photogrammetry for the flight, then uninstall after. Same if I want to do some European Ops. Again, they're only a few 100 kbs so easy to do. I'm a big fan of the photogrammetry visuals so I'll just install them for the flight if I want to experience them

If you are using photogrammetry try the fix in those links. That’s the biggest known issue. For some reason those little files even though they are in Europe mess up the rest of the worlds performance. Something else could be going on but it’s basically a double your FPS on the ground fix if you have those installed.  AIG models and lots of AI traffics could be another issue but I don’t use any of that right now.

I see no bug thread on the MSFS forum (other than the beta one, which is locked by now) - please open up one since this is a fairly huge bug and basically affects everyone. With swarm intelligence hopefully someone will find the single culprit and we can workaround for now.
