While it's different people who code WU vs Sim Updates I'd rather have them prioritize what small budget they probably have now on improving stuff like weather, ATC, the AI for autogen etc.

I don't think their budget is small.

Nope. Next Wu can be delayed as they told in the last Q&A.

They said Sim Update 10 could be delayed, not the World Update.

From what I understand for World Updates the MS Bing team prepare elevation, aerials and photogrammetry. They contract out assets and airports to teams such as Gaya and Orbx. Not sure how much Asobo is involved?

In addition to the WU, the roadmap shows a "surprise" DLC for June, and Jorg mentioned that there's something interesting coming.

My hope is for some sort of career mode - work as a cargo pilot... with persistence (pick up where you left off, aircraft in same state). Man the things that could be done with this if it were created by the in-house developer - think neofly on steroids.

Pure speculation - but I sure do hope this is at least one of the surprises they have on the calendar.

Well, let's move those darn WU people over to fixing the core issues of the sim like, ATC, AI Traffic and Seasons!

They wouldn't have the skill set to work on those things.

Most of the the people working on the World Updates would be artists, not programmers.

Developers are not polymaths, they each have their own focus and skill sets.

Exactly...!

So get rid of them and hire more word not allowed core programmers!!!!!

They have programmers, they don't need more. Having more wouldn't make it go faster.

And don't be so rude, asking for people to be fired. How would you like it if I asked for your work to fire you to make room for someone else?

Besides, most of the WU work (airports and landmarks) is outsourced to Gaya (sometimes Aerosoft), and ORBX updates the generic airports. Microsoft handles the Bing side of things (imagery and DEM), Asobo is mostly just integrating it all and testing it.

I'd honestly prefer if they emphasized ATC, AI traffic and proper Seasons, at this point, before more eye candy in WU's!

Indeed! I would like to have also birdstrikes, wake turbulences, turbulences in clouds (like the real thing), different runway friction at different conditions (dry, wet, icy), and a more sophisticated failure system..
After downloading X-Plane 11 (which is at end of its life) I realized there are around 400 failures simulated. I also found out, you can download older versions, so I downloaded the oldest version which is downloadable, namely X-Plane 9. Even there it has around 300 failures. So, I was curious, if I could find even older versions. Through the x-plane.org-forum I found someone living close to me (long time X-Plane user), he sent me version 6, which was released in 2001. Guess how many failures (engine, instruments, control surfaces, ...) I found there (by default): around 50. Now, if we count, how many MSFS has by default ... I must admit - it's a shame! OTOH and of course X-Plane 6 doesn't look as nice as X-Plane 12 or MSFS 2020 - for obvious reasons.
However, if Asobo does further development of the core sim like they did until now ... But I doubt they will implement so many failures (and other simulation stuff) - it's not in the interest of their (main) clientele.

Some people in trhis forum are saying, the "only" advantage of XP is/was its flight modeling, but meanwhile MSFS has catched up and possibly even surpassed X-Plane. That's what I also thought until recently. But, when I see how much advanced the failure modeling is, I'm "afraid", there's much more - what I still have to investigate.

Don't they already have that for wet surfaces? I find it harder to steer when it is wet.

There will be a huge presentation with Xbox and Bethesda on 06/12. Jörg said we would have to wait because they would announce it there.

So the next WU gotta be Tamriel

People here might hate me for saying this, but I genuinely would download and fly over Tamriel if they made this happen 😄
