Fenix A320 - VNAV Speed Locks at 220 Knts

Featured Replies

For some reason, for the last 3 flights I have flown, I set the AP & ATHR but the airspeed bug stays at 220 knots even above 10k feet. I can manually change to a higher speed but I revert to the A/C's control it reverts to 220 knots.

Why would that be?

Thanks,

Dave

Bob's suggestion apperas spot on, although I can't say for sure that's the cause...

GEAR DOWN SPEEDS
• VLE – 280 / 0.67
• VLO Extension – 250 / 0.60
• VLO Retraction – 220 / 0.54

from one of the nice documents linked yesterday at another thrread:

Airbus A320 checklists, normal procedures and limitations - Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) - The AVSIM Community

Indeed VLO ( retract ) in the 320 is 220knot, so, it might be the case that your landing gear isn't retracted or, if you enabled some sort of fauilure, might be partially extended...

Will test it myself ASAP.

Did you raise your flaps?

Yep. Sitting here at FL330 and just lets the A/C control the airspeed and it reverted to 230 knots.

Have you retracted your gear as jcomm mentioned? Sometimes it just extracts by it's own due to key bindings. Otherwise post some screeshots and check if speed is managed or not.

It was actually Bobsk8 who suggested it, and appears to be a plausible cause, but the OP has stated the gear was up, and cruising  @ FL330 speed decays to 230 knot. 😕

Would like to know what MACH is being computed for that level / IAS?

an indicated airspeed of 230kts is quite plausible, depending on cost index. Are you looking at the speed on the PFD? (make sure you set a cost index in the MCDU too incidentally).

Check your TAS and GS on the navigation display top corner. Remember IAS is not ground speed.

ok; lets see if this works....

Speed looks normal, your transponder is in standby, and you don't have altimeter setting adjusted on the right side. You are also in heading mode..

A few more quirks to add to those pointed out by Bobsk8 above ...

.) APU still ON ( shouldn't, specially @ FL330... )

.) FDs OFF - no active modes announced in your PFD, so autothrust really not working to "help you" - reverted to SPEED mode 🙂 - Open the speed window and check what value is being shown there...

.) etc...

I would recommend you watching some Youtube videos and learn how to set the aircraft up for a proper flight.
