Prepar3D V5 / Lost AI Traffic / AIG

Recommended Posts

Hello,
I have the following problem.

When I take off from an airport in my flight simulator, I have normal AI traffic from AIG. I can see all the planes and also in the sky I have lots of traffic.

Now comes my problem... On the airport where I land (no matter which one)... I have then no more traffic! Nothing... no AI plane nothing. I restart the flight simulator and start from the airport where I just landed.... I have normal AI traffic again?!?!

What can this be??? Can someone help me?

1. picture (KBOS) start airport with normal AI Traffic

2. picture (EIDW) after 6 hours of flight... No AI Traffic

3. picture (EIDW) after restarting the flight simulator.

As I said, it doesn't matter which airport I fly to.... no more AI Traffic on landing.

Best Regards

Stephan

Another user had this problem and despite many attempts at a fix the problem could only be resolved with a reinstall of P3D.

This isn’t as horrendous as it sounds. Uninstall scenery, content and client in that order. Opt to keep your licence active. The uninstall will only remove what it installed. Your own addons - aircraft, scenery etc. remain untouched.

Reboot and run the main installer. Install to the same location. None of your addons will be affected. I know this seems an extreme solution but it’s the only way the problem was fixed for the other user.

I take it you’re running v5.3HF2 with mostly BGL airlines?

Also the AIG Manager has a repair function. Maybe something there is broken. Certainly not bad to check there for errors. Also settings for AIG Traffic Controller should be checked.

Also reach out to @Kaiii3 directly on the AIG forums.  If it is something AIG related the support he gives for a freeware product is secondary to no payware add-ons.  In other words, if it's AIG he will very much try to help you find and resolve it.

But if the Ai appear at the departure airport and enroute it’s mystifying why they wouldn’t appear at the arrival one.

This is identical to the problem another user had. I can’t recall if the discussion was here or over at AIG but we exhausted everything trying to fix it in the end a reinstall of P3D did suggesting a corrupted file.

No need to discuss who has the right answer. There are many answers possible.

What you could check is the following, the AIG Traffic Controller is started with the sim and the traffic appears in the sim. If the traffic is then no longer available at the destination, it may be that the AIG Traffic Controller is no longer running, i.e. the program during the operational/flight crashes. You can check this in the Windows Event Viewer.
If you don't see Traiffic anymore, it indicates that.
Because the traffic is projected into the sim via this program/controller.

And note that this is a known bug in TC having to do with SimConnect.  AIG says that they are working on it, but it has been around for a while.

Bear in mind AIG is pretty representative of real world movements.  I'd imagine most airports shut down operations late in the evening to avoid noise pollution and restart only early in the following morning.  I've parked alongside 09R/27R to catch an early flight out enough times to confirm that there they start landings, which are quieter,  earlier than take-offs and you see the red-eyes from the USA and other long hauls coming in way before you see a take-off.

That means airports are full of aircraft based parked up there over-night.  They then depart en masse early in the morning and the airport is emptier until the short-hauls come back a few hours later.  Short-hauls will make several cycles during the day, long-hauls possibly not back until tomorrow.

This tidal flow means that if you are depending on how you catch it, you may see empty or nearly empty airports.  Are those two pictures of Dublin taken at the same time of day?

Hello,

Thank you very much for your answers! I will try them all one by one before I really do a reinstall.

Stephan, one question. Which type of install did you choose? BGL or AIGFP?

If BGL I cannot conceive why you wouldn’t have Ai at the arrival airport. If AIGFP that would require AIG Traffic Controller to be running to inject the aircraft. As Airbus Fan suggests, make sure it’s running.

Hey Ray,

I am of the opinion that I only use .bgl files.

I forgot to mention... That this problem has arisen only recently. Did not have any other problems.

Lately I have only:
Windows Update
Nvidia Update
AIG new airlines installed
AIG updated existing airlines with their flight schedules

@Engine 10, okay, that clarifies things a little. You don’t need AIG TC running for BGLs.

Please try this. Temporarily move all BGL files except one from the scenery subfolder in your AIG structure. I suggest you leave a major airline such as Lufthansa or British Airways in that folder. Just create a temporary folder and move the BGLs to it.

If you have Lufthansa remaining locate to Frankfurt and try a flight to Cologne. You should only have Lufthansa aircraft visible. If you have Ai Companion use the Live Traffic option to monitor the number of Ai both on the ground and airborne.

Choose mid morning for departure. Report back with your results.

Without doubt there are, but, more than likely only one is right. 😁
