Monitor project activity by clicking on the "Master/Main" button and pick "View All Branches", then click the branch's name to switch. Don't complain about bugs unless a project has an official release (see "Releases" section of project page). Branch work usually means heavy work in progress with no guaranteed usability. Watch progress or to-do issues from the "Project" or "Issues" tabs. When willing and able to, lend a hand. "Lend a hand" as in "hands-on", i.e. modeling, texturing, programming.
