MSFS is Beyond Frustrating

Featured Replies

The good thing is that your issue was resolved in a civil manner with all parties responding to each other in a polite and understanding way. So much better than the bad tempered and impolite rants we occasionally see. By the way Pete, I use a neat little utility called 'Everything' to find stuff in my pc. Here is the link....

I use it a lot when I run out of memory, my own I mean!! LOL

This is very handy, thanks for sharing

Before blaming MSFS, we need to make sure the problem is not caused by mods like in this case. A lot of issues are user related and not the sim itself. I've opted to not use mods and so far I haven't had a single issue with MSFS and it has nothing to do with luck either.

Same here, no mods and no problems.  Steam installation is the cherry on top.

Out of curiosity, does the Google mod inform you that it needs to modify the host file when you install the Google mod?

Not on the flightsim.to page, but over at the FAQ at the GitHub page.

“Because this mod will modify the hosts file…”

It could be more explicit. I think quite a few have run into problems with MSFS due to not shutting down the mod correctly.

Do you have a link to the GitHub for this map replacement program? I'm interested in it, but also very cautious about installing such an aggressive mod. I'd like to "look under the hood" before trying it.

Two lines are inserted into the hosts file to divert texture requests to the server you have chosen.  when the 'stop mod' button is pressed, these two lines are removed.

It's really nothing aggressive. Only two lines at the end of the hosts file.

So wait, the ONLY thing this mod does is edit the host file? I can do that myself if I knew the proper text.

It's gotta be more than that. I'll check those FAQs.
