DX12 is working so much better than before, so thats a positive.

Would you say it's better than DX11 now, and does it use more VRAM than DX11 if you can tell?

It seems to use more Vram, if I remember my flight. It was stable as a rock. By the way, on my test flight I was flying way down low in the canyon valleys all the way near ground level. That's a tough test to pass in mountain addon mesh scenery.

I'm getting really inconsistent results with DX12 actually.   Just about to repeat the test in DX11 now.. DX12 was unusable for me previously, but even still I'm not convinced with it.   Definitely seems to use more vram as well.

Going to run a few tests and get some hard data before coming to conclusions.

Making now a test flight from LGAV-LIRF with Fenix at Ultra Settings with DX12.

I had the smoothest with out a single stutter performance in Flytampa LGAV airport while ground handling, taxing, take off etc.

DX12 is hammering my 11900k right now ( adaptive boost overclocked at 5.1ghz) with temps 60c-70c area as its spreads the work better in more cores etc. Also DX12 uses a lot of Vram + ram.  I am allready with 14gb Vram memory used.

Congratulations Asobo!

GPU Mem: 6.11 GB used out of 7.093 GB available in Devmode FPS screen when using the beta patch and DX12.  I don't think it was that high before the patch.

The patch is large amounts of GB and takes time to download. But removing the patch and doing the same flight you did while using the patch might be the real test to be sure.

I just installed the SU10 beta.

1) how do I know which version of the Garmin G1000 WorkingTitle NXi I have installed?

2) How do I uninstall it in the marketplace, I don't see that option. it is listed as "up to date version 1.0.1"

is that the SU10 beta version?

-----------------------------------------------

"Important G1000 NXi Beta Notes: If you would like to test the latest G1000 NXi included with SU10 Beta (which we strongly recommend), you will need to uninstall the G1000 NXi from the Marketplace. During this testing period, with the Marketplace NXi uninstalled, the legacy AS1000 (and not the NXi) will appear in third party planes.spacer.pngspacer.png

I tried some more, and now showing version 0.12.2 for the G1000 NXi. is that the latest from SU10 beta? I am also showing version 1.0.1 installed, status for both showing "up to date" ??? how do I know which is what and what is beta?

I am very happy so far with DX12, DLSS Balanced and tonight's drop from PMDG. With DX11 I had very bad stutters when panning around.

With 5-6 weeks with more work on this I am keeping the glass half full.

DX12 maxing out my vram (8GB)  in my Sydney test.  DX11 using between  600MB -1.3 GB less.    Much smoother in DX11  Both held my locked 30fps but the difference in smoothness was very noticeable.

Will do some proper DLSS testing tomorrow, but for the moment using my pre-beta graphics settings it's a very fluid experience in DX11 without any need for DLSS.

EDIT.  Those happiest with DX12 appear to be those with the highest end cards it seems.  DX12 with very high/ultra settings might just be too much for 8GB cards perhaps?

Quite frankly I don't have any idea why anything would be better w/ DX12. I remember P3D 5.0's VRAM use went up bigtime over pre DX12.  So what exactly is the theoretical benefit of DX12 v DX11?

I have more stutters panning with DX12 than DX11. Lost 3 or 4 FPS too. Went back to DX11.

Are any of the 40th Anniversary aircraft showing up in the SU 10 Beta?

If so, how does the AH DC-3 look/fly?

it is not an automatic performance increase, the developers need to make DX12 specific changes to implement the new DX12 features, that is a gradual ongoing process Asobo is working on.
